Took my car in for a misfire and also tranny issue. Two days later and no call from them. I finally called and they said the car was all set. They could not do the tranny as they do not do that work - referred me to the dealer. Changed my plugs and wires for over $500. I thought they put gold wires on the plugs. They charged me $230 something for the wires when they are readily available for about $130. As well, each plug (12 of them) was over priced by over $4.00 from readily available sources. I understand they have to make money and it should be through their labor fee (which I was also charged). They are marking up the price of parts unfairly. I can see if they MADE the part then price it however you like. However, when you are sourcing the part from local parts suppliers, keep the price the same as a consumer can buy it for or slightly above for time and effort. Completely not satisfied and WILL NOT be going back there.
As well, they should confirm the work with an estimate prior to it actually being done. I know. This entails making a phone call and perhaps they are phone adverse. However, consumers need to be informed prior to any work taking place. I would have happily paid then for the diagnosis and then done the repair myself - whereby saving a bunch of money.
