The only way I can explain the high reviews so far is that they are from 4 years ago... even still. The location is great, but the hotel is desperately outdated and the service is mediocre. Stayed Sun-Wed for business (I like to seek out local, boutique-y hotels). Room service is from the downstairs Italian restaurant, which happens to not serve dinner Mon-Wed, which equals no room service (the restaurant closes around 3 or 4 pm!). The heater/AC unit in the room is LOUD and the carpet around it was wet. I was there in late winter, but had to turn the heater off so I could hear the TV without blasting the volume. Carpet had various spots, I assume as a result of the pet-friendly policy. Doors slam really loudly, which gets annoying. The hallway outside my room had a large, disgusting looking leak in the ceiling so I had to pass by a bucket full of dirty water for two days. The decor & furniture of the entire place is stale -- pretty tacky, mismatched. I thought it would be charming, but I just couldn't wait to leave the entire time. The staff service was mediocre with a smile. The crabby hour they advertise I saw was set up in the lobby just in front of the registration desk. Awkward! The hotel is three floors and the only ice & vending machine were on the 2nd floor. This place is definitely not worth the $$$ -- it's just tacky and the amenities are really lacking. Location is great, but I'd advise that you spend a little extra and stay at the Marriott just a couple blocks away.
Pros: good location
Cons: outdated, mediocre service, weak amenities
