Wonderful outdoor dining 2/10/2006

I love the outside tables. I can't think of another place where you can sit outside and not have to hear the street noise. Food is generally good, but try the mussels in the lobster sause, when it is on it is fantastic. Perhaps that is the one problem that I have with this restaurant, it is a bit inconsistent. We either have a bit of blah food or inattentive wait staff. When it all comes together, outside on a balmy day, wine in hand, a ton of mussels I'm in heaven. Pros: quite outdoor seating, plenty of parking, bread Cons: inconsistent more

Don't go if you're looking to grab a slice and a coke before the movie. Go if you want to relax, savor the moment, experience wonderful cuisine served with percision and perfection. The wine list runs the gamut. The top shelf selection is also very impressive. This cozy joint won't break the budget, but will break your heart when you're significant other thanks you ( and thanks you and thanks you) Pros: service, chow, ambiance Cons: not many more

Impressed 3/21/2005

What a place to take a date or enjoy a casual yet classy meal with friends and family. I believe Piatti is somewhat of a hidden secret in San Antonio. They have an eclectic cuisine that encompasses traditional Italian entrees with various seafood meals that will knock your socks off and have you asking for more. I highly recommend the goat cheese with crackers along with some wine to start off with. My favorite entrée thus far has been the special, which was grilled tuna. more

Non-formula 8/21/2002

Refreshing to find an Italian restaurant that does not fit the Macaroni Grill, Olive Garden, etc. mold. Very fresh food, fabulous Ceasars Salad. Good wine list. more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Quarry shoppers and movie-goers of all ages come and go in a steady stream for Executive Chef Mike Davis' reliable Italian fare. High ceilings and widely spaced tables give the dining room an open, airy feel. Soft, even lighting shines down from hanging fixtures shaped like inverted flying saucers, adding to the sleek yet comfortable vibe.

    The Food
An on-staff baker assures the freshest possible bread and pasta, and all pestos are also made in-house. The homemade goodness will leap out at you when you taste the bruschetta appetizer, with basil leaves, diced tomatoes, garlic, and basil pesto piled atop crunchy bread slices. Warning: may cause garlic breath. Another popular dish, fried calamari is served with a smoky, roasted tomato garlic sauce. The mesquite-grilled porko milano, a center cut pork loin, generously gives back all the flavor it absorbed during a full day marinating in basil pesto.
