I was in Half Moon Bay 3 days in an RV. I came on my spare tire; the ""good"" tire had a leak. I took the tire in Monday afternoon. Most places can fix a tire in 10 minutes. They made a fuss because it's a larger RV tire but took it anyway...but it couldn't be done until the next day. I said I suspected the valve extension. They would call me. By 2PM next day no call. I called them. They told me they filled it the previous night & it doesn't hold air. WOW, newsflash, I ALREADY knew it had a leak. But they told me again it should go into Redwood City, they aren't ""equipped"" to do it. He said they had no way to put it in a water tank to see leaks. I?ve seen small shops spray water on a tire & watch for bubbling...it's not rocket science. He'd work on it he said - whatever that meant - & I should come pick it up at 4. Interesting - when I got there, it turns out he LEAVES at 4. Convenient. The tire was sitting untouched. The manager looked at it & had no idea what the status was or why it wasn't fixed. He said they'd do it the next morning - the morning I was supposed to leave. I took the tire with me instead to the corner Union Station. GREAT station, GREAT owner. ""SURE we can fix that."" It took them TEN minutes. Like I mentioned, they used a spray bottle. They sprayed the extension on the valve...as I suspected, that was the leak. They filled the tire, tightened the extension, used the spray bottle & found no more leaks. Yup, - 10 MINUTES. Not TWO DAYS to do NOTHING. Perhaps the first fellow didn't care as I seem to only be passing through? Was he lazy? He didn't care? Is he incompetent? Whatever the reason, he didn't know that I was here finding a place to live & I WILL be living here - & I know not to use his ""services,"" & I know to recommend to locals NOT to take their cars there....something you cannot afford in a place as small as Half Moon Bay. Phil's Tire & Auto Care needs a wake up call - hopefully this review is it.
Pros: Nice guys
Cons: Bad service, questionable ability
