I strongly suggest not buying anything from this store. We bought a puppy from the Batavia Petland in 2008. A few days after taking it home, we had to rush it to an emergency vet and we were told it was sick with pneumonia. They also said that the puppy had to have been sold to us sick. All of our calls and attempts to talk to managers went ignored for months. When they finally did respond they blamed us for the dogs sickness and refused to accept full responsibility. From our research about this and other Petland stores in our area, it appears that our experience is a common one. The contract that you have to sign is a catch 22. It says you have to use the Glen Ellen Animal Hospital and if you have an after hour emergency you need to call Lisle Emergency Clinic. Then they state that they ?will not be responsible for any expenditure incurred at ANY emergency clinic or hospital.? So if Glen Ellen Animal Hospital is closed no matter where you take the pet, you are out of luck. There have been cases filed with better business at all three facilities that this stores owners run. There seems to be a bad pattern going on at this Petland. If you do some research you will find that there are many grievances out there about Batavia Petland and the other Northern Illinois Petlands . They are complaining about sick dogs, contracts/ warranties not being honored, fraudulent breed claims and possible links to puppy mills. In my opinion you would be better off to buy from a reputable breeder or save a dog and go to a rescue. Petfinder on the web iIs a good site to use. If you go to the humane society website you can see what they have reported about Petlands in general.
Cons: Sold us a sick animal and owners are very rude
