Went on a Saturday with a party of four. Reservations made, noting diner was for a 50th b-day. Arrived on time, but the table wasn't ready. Sat at the newly cleaned bar (smelledl ike bleach). When the table was ready, they sat us in a cold, dark side room (two tables only) adjacent to a large, occupied party room. Couldn't even see the menu. Talked to the host-- this is what we get for making a reservation??; met with attitude after we requested a nicer table (""the 'room' IS considered part of the main dining area!""). Waiter ""couldn't recommend any of the fish-- it's out of season"" so we didn't get to see any specials. Two of four salad orders were wrong, my ceasar tasted like horseradish was added. Three of four dinner orders were wrong, a third came late. Strip Steak was OK-- was it really aged? Didn't have that aged taste or look. Asked for cognac sauce, recd peppercorn (yuk). Tired of asking for corrected food! Waiter was distracted by other nearby tables, didn't check on us or refill non-alcoholic beverage. No 'thank-you' from the waiter as we left. Waiting for the slow valet, we had to see an over-served 50-ish patron flashing her pals in a limo. Classy. The experience left us with no reason to return-- at any price.
Pros: simple menu, nice main dining room
Cons: low lighting, live music discourages conversation, underachieving staff
