Petco Montgomery 4/17/2007

There are a few things in regards to Petco. First of all the cleanliness of the animal cages is unsatisfactory. NO ONE should be able to smell dirty animal cages or ammonia in a pet store of any nature whether local or otherwise. Secondly, their birds are in bad condition; to me the care the animals recieve is reflected not only in the cleanliness of the habitat but their appearance as well. With that being said, if everytime you have birds available if you have animals plucking their feathers out you have a problem. Either the animals in your care are stressed and not recieving adequate care or you should change suppliers. \r \r I have stopped shopping at Petco due to this, I refuse to support a store that mistreats or neglects its pets. Petco, I must admit does have great sales and prices which is why I order off-line. Normally however, I avoid both Petco the store and Petco on-line and shop primarily at Petsmart or Pet Supplies Plus, depending upon my needs at the time. more

Good pet store for a national chain. Prices are good. Somewhat concern about the quality of the pets. I do like to buy some of my pet supplies there due to the prices being somewhat cheaper. I have never purchased an animal there, but while I was looking for one to purchase some of the staff did not seem to familiar with the animal I was looking to buy and they referred me to a "care sheet". I was not comfortable making a choice based on a piece of paper so I went elsewhere. more

Mr. Squeakers and "crickets" 4/13/2007

For Christmas this year the only thing my youngest child really wanted was a real "live" Frog......one that she could keep in her room and that she wouldn't have to let go!! So, she unwrapped a "habitat" for one and after the holidays we made the trek to Petco, to see what we would find. Almost as soon as we were looking at them a nice young man walked over and offered to help. He answered all our questions and then after my daughter picked out the "one" she wanted (a fire bellied toad), he was very careful to catch Mr. Squeakers for us. We have since made the regular visits to pick up crickets so Mr. Squeakers doesn't go hungry and they have always been quick to get us in and out of the store. I agree that my children also love to look around, but with Mr. Squeakers already here at home with us, we try not to look too much!! Friendly, helpful staff, good location, plenty of parking, prices comparable to other similar stores. more

Fun Store 4/13/2007

Petco is one of my childrens' favorite places to go. They love looking at the fish, rabbits, hamsters,birds, reptiles, puppies & kittens. The store is very spacious and always has in stock whatever I need to buy. They also carry several unique pet items. more
