I had fish growing up, and had promised my 6 year old son that if he had made the A honor roll for an entire school year, I would buy him a fishtank. After he had worked very hard all semester and had made the A honor roll, I took him to Petco to buy a fishtank and a few fish. Since I had fish growing up, I knew how to care for them and usually had no problems. I had treated the water, and the next day placed the fish in the tank, but something had happened and they all died within 2 weeks. I took the last fish that had passed back to Petco in a container with water from the tank, and told the manager what had happened. She had told me she needed another water sample or she could sell me no more fish, but I had already dumped the tank and since I live a ways from the store of course I could not provide another one from the tank or my tap.
