Pet Headquarters Veterinary Samuel Thomas DVM

Have been going there for three yrs. Office people are rude and do not know how to run a office. Dr Thomas is also rude and arrogant. I believe they have mix my dogs records with another dog...when I attempted to get it corrected ....I was told ...that's what the computer says...I say...garbage in garbage out !!! Needless to say .....I'm going someplace else... more

My family have been clients of doctor Thomas' for YEARS! We even took animals to his father (who is a great doctor) before he had his own practice. A couple years ago, my mother and I had a cat and kitten that had skin issues. The mother was very tiny, and instead of using his judgment by giving her a smaller dose of medicine, he gave her a full amount. Two days later, she died of kidney failure. Since then, my mother and I have not taken our pets to him, but my grandmother and aunt remained loyal customers- even close ""friends"". This year, my grandmothers dog has been sick. He wrote it off as pancreatic issues without doing X-rays or anything. This morning, the dog went lifeless. We tried getting hold of dr Thomas, but the office Is closed every wed. We called his house phone because they have been considered family friends for quite some time, he answered the phone and said ""I am not in the office, stop calling"". So, we took the dog to another vet. the doctor found a grapefruit size tumor attached to the dogs spleen. He said if it was caught in time, we could have done surgery. But at this stage, there was no hope, so we had to put her down. On two separate occasions, he has shown his carelessness. I don't believe his heart is in his practice. I would not recommend his as your vet. more

I brought in my jackabee puppy with a cough. The doc checked her out and sent me home with orders to wait out the virus, and he didn't even charge me for the visit. Of course, a veterinarian can't always let you go Scot free, but it was so nice in this case. Nice and accommodating is how I would describe this veterinarian and his staff. I don't need to shop around. I will be returning in the future. more

they're neither professional nor knowledgeable, they were not very kind to my dog, I so regret I ever brought my dog to the clinic, if you truly love your pet, think of more decent veterinarians or animal clinics in the area. more

You can trust Dr. Thomas. he' s really nice and considering. He'll do the best for your pet. My dog is realy old, Dr. Thomas just found the best treatment for my dog. we always think my dog is part of my family, of course we need the best doctor for my dog. Dr. Thomas helped our dog when she developed a cough. He checked her out and thought we should just keep her under observation and we left at no charge! Unheard of but not here! We took her back within a few days since she did not improve much, so he examined her again then issued her meds and the cost was very nominal. Our dog felt better within a day or so and she is happy and healthy. Thank you Dr. Thomas! On a sadder note, Dr. Thomas assisted us with a difficult decision of euthnizing our 19 year old Boston Terrier mix, Missy. I took my dog to this vet to get spayed. When I picked her up, she was so scared she wouldn't let anyone take her out the cage. I had to go in the back room and get her myself. I took her home and she was so sick. After a couple of weeks, most of her stitches dissolved, with the exception of one. I had to bring her back so they could cut the stitch out. When they snipped the stitch, they snipped her skin. She was so frightened, she lost all bodily functions. These people are so insensitive. I found another vet that I am so pleased with. After reading all the positive reviews about Dr. Thomas I decided to have my 7 month old puppy spayed at the Pet Headquarters Vet Clinic. I had purchased my puppy from Laurie, the woman who sells puppies in the store, and she has been a healthy, happy puppy. She went in to get spayed at their clinic and that same day I noticed her incision area looked very swollen and red. The day after the surgery she was spinning in circles and crying all day. The third day had to take her to the pet emergency clinic because her condition was getting worse. She was not eating and defecating on herself because she was barely able to stand up. Her incision is infected and she has a urinary tract infection. My poor puppy is miserable and still in very bad condition. I don't know what they did to her but she will no longer be seen by that vet clinic. Pros: Cheap Cons: No price is worth seeing my puppy in this condition more

Dr. Thomas and his staff saved my cats life. Poor cat got out one day and caught in a fence. Back leg was snapped in two with the bone coming out. Not a pretty picture. Took her to my regular vet who gave her medicine and wrapped up her leg. Since he does not do surgery he gave me the names of two others. One was WLA Animal Hospital and another in Oxnard somewhere where they both do orthopedic surgery. I called to get quotes 2400 and 2100 I was told. So the cat was on the way at this point to the local shelter where I hoped she would be adopted out and treated by a group. But the dumb cat gave me one of those looks before I signed the papers and I decided to ask the shelter who they used. Dr. Thomas was on the list. I called the office, explained the problem and they told me what others were probably charging. They quoted me 300.00. That was for the operation, follow up treatment and medication. I asked how he could do this so cheap. Dr. Thomas explained he used to do them all the time when he worked with his dad who was also a vet. Great guy and great service. Pros: Great Vet. Knows his stuff. Caring Staff and good price Cons: A little far from my house but worth the drive more

I thank God that there is a vet that is so very caring and so loves all the animals he sees and not just here for the money . I brought in my Lil Jack Russell Spencer after he had decided to be big and brave and challenge a city trash truck and darted out the door to chase after it. I right away gave chase after him.. \r \r Let me tell you they may be small but sure can run like greased lightning in a hot pursuit.. \r \r I ran back to get my car and finally caught up to him at a main intersection where he was struck by several cars.. I rammed my car in the middle of the road so he wouldn't get struck more and quickly scooped him up and called on my cell phone to Dr. Thomas's office . When I arrived the staff was waiting for me and took me in right away.. A staff member stayed with me as I was so upset.. when they were done with X-rays and wrapping him up like a mummy he was released... 3 weeks later they took more X-rays to see how he was healing and the swelling had gone down only to discover he had a fractured hip and needed hip replacement surgery.. After the surgery I came in to see him and found him still asleep in the cage. but the staff had placed a stuffed puppy with him as a lil pillow so he wouldn't be alone when he woke .. this just showed me more of how they really cared for their Lil patients. I stayed with him petting his head till he woke up and saw me. I was able to bring him home a few days later.. \r \r Dr. Thomas and the staff called me every other day to see how Spencer was doing and if there was any problems.. I just love this Veterinary hospital and its staff I wont take my pets to anyplace else.. \r \r Thank you Dr. Thomas and Staff for being there. more

My dog was a crippled from hip displaxia..(sp), but Dr. Thomas fixed her so that she can run and walk ....almost too much!! My other Vet up here in Goleta wanted to commend Dr. Thomas for doing an extraordinary spectacular job!!!!! The other vet saw my Dog Bo before and after the operation and saw what a HUGE improvement she has made.....full recovery!!\r Dr. Thomas is an amazing vet and should get a Nobel prize in Veterinarian Medicine....he is truley the best Vet on the West coast!!\r \r Update May2009, my dog Bo is still jumping like a jumping bean and running all over the place like the dog from Marley an Me! Full of life and healthy! \r \r Also, Dr. Thomas fixed my cat who almost died and the infamous ""Brownone"" is now 17 years old! Way to go Dr. T! He's the best vet!! more
