Best

Quality product a bit pricey but well worth it.

My wife and I used to be in sales, so we understand the "salesman tactics." However, spending over 6 hours in our home was excessive. This included some small talk, negotiation, e...

terrible 2/5/2009

I wish I could give them all negative stars.... They are good for nothing scammers. Why pay 10's of thousdands of dollars. I rather pay couple hundred bucks for a decent window, and go to hawaii every winter than have new windows that i have to get a loan out. It is ridiculous, with the economy I hope their the next to go out of buisness. and stay off my lawn!!!! more

AVOID PENGUIN WINDOWS! 1/20/2009

Avoid this company! The windows are grossly overpriced and look ugly. They are made of PVC material that is cheap and will not look good. The salesperson that visited our house was extremely aggressive- he would not leave even when we EXPLICITLY told him to leave. He refused to sell us a single window, insisting that we spend a minimum of $4,500. He quoted us at $2,000 PER WINDOW. After comparing better quality material windows (including installation) this price seems like a joke. He mocked us for not buying right away and accused of us of planning on buying cheap low quality windows. Incredibly rude and annoying, along with ridiculous prices. Don't let them into your house! more

Mark 1-14-09 One window done 1/19/2009

I only had one window (bathroom) done - The one that really needed to be done. They did a great job. Really beautiful window. Very professional installation. They showed up on schedule. It was 3 weeks from when it was ordered. But,,,,,,, Due to the cost $$$, I will go with top quality double pane vinyl for the rest of the house this Spring - for 1/2 the cost. I hear they have relatively high energy savings. I researched a little on the internet before I set up the original Penguin sales pitch. I knew it was going to be a very long presentation. (the #1 compalint on the internet)( they said 1 hour) And I knew the price was extremely high. (the #2 complaint). If I was rich, I would do Penguin for the whole house...... I would buy a Mercedes too.... By the way, I had 8 windows and 3 sliding door windows...... $25000. That's $1500/window and $4000 per sliding door.... 4 of the windows were really, really big. And 4 pretty small ones. more

Completely satisfied 1/19/2009

I invited Russ to come over last summer and do the sales pitch to me and my wife here on Whidbey Island and he was thorough and very knowledgable. The windows were exactly what they said and have saved us a lot in heating. We heat with firewood and this has been a very cold winter. We are using less than half of our wood this season. I just noticed a leak in one of our windows and put in a claim today. I will see how attentive the company is in the next few days. I may write again on this blog. Joe more

Poor Customer Service 1/16/2009

Salesman did a great job, after that everything went downhill. The scheduling person Jennifer was rude. When order was canceled because they couldn't get a person to measure for 2 weeks they threatened to keep my deposit. Good thing it was on a credit card. In Lakeville Massachusetts more

Long Sales Demo 1/13/2009

The windows looked great and the sales people were nice but took a very long time. They did their best to sell to my wife and I; however 23,000.00 to replace windows in a small 2 bedroom house seems to me a ridiculous offer. After saying no way to their price it dropped down to 20,000.00 but I was still choking on the high dollar amount. I thought to myself "who do I know that has a separate loan lasting several years to pay for windows, is this a scam"? My question is this: Is penguin the only company who makes this standard of window? Do they truly have no competition? Is there another company who makes a comparable product? I am currently researching and hope to find other companies that have highly efficient windows that I could install myself if I so choose. more

Penguin has 54 complaints with BBB 12/22/2008

For some reason Penguin Windows is listed 4 separate times with the Better Business Bureau. (www.thebbb.org) The total number of complaints is 54-- more

Penguin Window experience 12/15/2008

Yes it was difficult to cope with the initial $25,000 to do my entire house. I have had the windows for a year and a half and could not be happier. My energy bills have dropped more than 60%. going from 200 per month to less than 100. thats amazing. The installers worked fast and efficiently. they answered any questions i had and were very clean. My windows look and feel amazing. Also, the warranty i recieved covers me and not the manufacturer, imagine that. The windows were worth every penny and more! more

Rude, Arrogant, Forceful, Pushy, and SPENDY!!!! 12/15/2008

I just had a salesman from Penguin come to my house this month. What a horrible experience! I've been visited by Vacuum salesman, been to Amway meetings, worked with used car salesman, but this company takes the cake. And I could tell it wasn't just the salesman. He was TRAINED to be this pushy and rude. Everything he went over was trained into him, I could tell. The "30 minute" presentation actually took 4 hours because HE WOULDN'T FREAKIN' LEAVE! Why anyone would ever buy from such a company is beyond me. more

Rude, Arrogant, Forceful, Pushy, and SPENDY!!!! 12/15/2008

Had a salesman come over to our house this month. The 30 minute presentation / estimate they promised me ended up taking 4 hours and HE WOULDN'T LEAVE! I've had visits from Vacuum salesmen, Amway meetings, Timeshares, you name it. But these guys take the prize for pushiest and most rude salesman I've ever ran into. Why anyone would purchase windows from an outfit like that is beyond me! more

Whole house done 12/15/2008

Good: Everyone/Everything but the sales people.. Bad: Sales people's theatrics - need to sign now or price will go up; Gave me a really hard time when I cancelled initially. I only bought them after they gave me a discount.. Improvements: More honest sales people. I think the windows and the lifetime warranty are worth it. Especially the service. Keep up the good work and word will spread. You don't need dishonest salespeople to sell.. more

Giving it a try 12-11-8 12/11/2008

Just had the presentation. I need new windows on my house. - And one really needs to be replaced soon anyway. The presentation was a little long - 3 1/2 hours. He was a little pushy, but It was an extremely good education. I'm going to get 1 window done and see how it goes. I'll post again after it's installed. I'll have to do a cost analysis to see if the projected energy savings and increase in homesale value is worth the investment. Mark D more

stop whining 12/6/2008

Penguin windows only has 8 complaints with the bbb in the last 36 months. Go to the bbb site and see for yourself. I think people love to write about things that upset them. Unfortunately the people that are enjoying their new windows that are guaranteed for life aren't writing in to this site. In addition, if you dont like a salesperson just ask them to leave. Grow up. more

Bad Installation 12/3/2008

We also were dupped by the sales pitch of Statewide Windows, now Penguin. They do not install them properly and the product is not what they show you. Don't buy them, we ar sorry we did. more

High Pressure & Price 11/19/2008

We are on week three of having Penguin windows. After a long and tiring 4 hour demonstration and high pressure sales pitch we caved. Our salesman was slick and avoided my questions regarding energy rebates from the PUD and also said that the PUD only extended financing to low income clients. Unfortunately after we signed on the dotted line, and was informed there would be a 30% penalty if we cancelled the windows, I contacted the PUD to find out he lied about the info. We were mislead; & windows sweat! more

Don't book the appointment 10/19/2008

Don't bother making the appointment. I dealt with these guys when they were Statewide Windows. That's right folks, they had so much bad press and lawsuits that they changed their name. From my personal experience, I am thrilled that I didn't buy from them. We sat through the sales pitch for 4 hours, according the the rep, every seal in our windows was in need of replacement and half the windows were 'custom size'. A local company checked and they were all standard size and the seals were fine. more

Penguin Windows are great!! 10/18/2008

I had the whole house done in June 2008. I have found the windows to be everything they were claimed to be plus more. I am very glad that I bought these and found them to be a very high quality product. The outside noise is reduced considerably. There were no high pressure sales tactics used on me. The install crews were professional and did a great job. Beware of companies that do not have their own employees. I do not hesitate to recommend Penguin Windows to others. more

My Windows 10/7/2008

I had my windows installed one year ago for the lower level of my house and just last week finished the upstairs. Penguin windows have been very professional from the beginning. Always courteous. This is unusual for a home improvement company. I would recommend this company to anyone. more

AGGRESSIVE SALES 10/7/2008

After setting expectations of 30min to one hour, the 2 sales people were in our house for 2 hours, and didn't want to leave. All we wanted was a quick quote on replacing 5 windows in our home. They blocked our cars in and when I asked them to move their car, they were hesitant to do so. I felt trapped in my own house and I had to go and pick up a family member. Their gorrilla sales tactics are the reason we would NEVER purchase windows from them. more

Good window, bad sales policy 10/7/2008

We bought a bay window from Penguin. It is great and saves a lot of heat. The salesman gave us a gas card as a promo, but it had such a short expiration date that we didn't get a chance to use it. Result: don't buy Penguin because they scam you on the promotions. more
