I have been going to this clinic for many years- back when they were in a very small building. Over these years they have treated my dogs, cats, parrots, ferrets, and iguanas. They are the MOST compassionate and expert veterinarians I have ever had in my over 60 years of owning pets. The front staff and technicians are AWESOME too! Most human doctors and staff are not nearly as professional, competent and compassionate as these people- I would trust MY life in their hands! I can't praise them enough! more

Appalled 3/5/2013

I was upset at the way they handled my issues and questions. In every case the Vet took at least 3-4 days to get back to me on my questions I had. My last question I never received a call back. This is after I had 3 visits. I will never go back here nor recommend them. more

Not Good at all! 3/1/2013

This place is all about the money. The service was horrible and I never even saw a vet after i visited 3 times for dog procedure. They rush you in and out and make sure they get paid first. They must do alot of marketing to get people in but i did not see many happy people when i was there, they all agreed with me. more

The Best! 12/31/2010

We had to go in with our very ill Labrador. Dr. Thorndike did everything she could with our resources. She was extremely caring and very very thoughtful. I have never met a veterinarian like her. She is the type of person that you want to go into pet health. Do yourself a favor and if you want a caring veterinarian go in an see her. \r \r Unfortunately we had to have him put down but she made the whole process as wonderful a goodbye as anyone could ever ask for. The whole staff was very caring but she went above and beyond. Pender Veterinary Centre is fantastic just by association. \r \r It was a truly world class center with a one in a million veterinarian. I am not the type of guy that throws around praise. The whole experience has meant so much to me that I had to give a review that others should follow. more

Highly recommended!!!! 12/22/2010

Best vet center I've ever been to. The staff is very helpful and the doctors are all top notch. I took my chinchillas here after going to 2 other vets who either couldn't help them or didn't know what was wrong with them. The doctors at Pender exotics saved their lives and they continue to be healthy little guys. I am so thankful for them! I can't say enough about how great this place is! more

I have taken all my birds to penders exotic center for the last 6 years. The staff is very knowledgable and comfortable with all differnt breeds. They really care about my pets and I always get great service! more

Pender Vet/Eastern Exotics is Fantastic! 10/17/2010

This is the best vet center for birds in the DC Metro area, no question. I have two cockatiels I have brought here on numerous occasions for health issues and the staff, technicians, and doctors are all outstanding. The care they have provided for my birds is always top-notch. My birds have seen 4 different vets at this practice over the years, and all have been extremely competent, knowledgeable, friendly, and caring. more

Caring about pets and people too 10/12/2010

I have taken all my pets to Pender for years and years, they have always been great. the doctors Explain what's wrong and what options are available and what they will cost. The staff really cares about pets, and are gentle treating them, but they understand pet people too!\r Many of their staff have been there a long time, and bring all their pets to Pender, they understand how important a lot of TLC is to patient and family. more

Pender Veterinary Centre is GREAT 9/28/2009

i am a vet technician and i work at a vet clinic that does not do emergencies. Pender is the only place i will take my own pets to for emergency care. Even the prices for major procedures wowed me compared to other emergency clinics in the Fairfax area, i didn't sit in the waiting room for an hour either! they even let my whole family stay in the room for euthanasia. great staff and VERY clean facility. i tell everyone to go to Pender! more

Caring doctors at Pender Veterinary Centre. 8/31/2009

I have taken my animals to Pener vet center many times over the last 9 years for both routine examinations/vaccines as well as when one of felines developed a cancerous growth under his tongue. The doctors are top notch in my book. more

One of a kind! 8/14/2009

One of a kind in animal care! Their exotic team is second-to-none and extremely knowledgeable in their field. Our ferrets were regulars there, especially when they got older and we could not ask for better care for our beloved pets. When we had to put our ferret to sleep the doctor allowed us to be in the room and hold our precious ferret and even stayed with us in the room for as long as we needed her afterwards. Their charity work and dedication to animals is AMAZING! More than once we have taken an injured wild animal to them and they take it in immediately to care for it...free of charge! These individuals truly care about their patients and are absolutely amazing! more
