Horrible! 4/29/2009

I wish I had something good to say about the food. We ordered pork lo mein, kung pao chicken and egg rolls. It was all terrible. It was so bad we ended up tossing the food out. A waste of our money. Cons: bad food more

Happy New Year! 3/11/2009

Just needed to add this comment. for 2009 Since I'm still going there to eat. Ambience is good, service is good, and definitely the food is good. Pros: Mai Tai, sizzling Rice Soup, LoMein Cons: parking (sometimes) more

Dark ambience to hide the 6-legged pests 4/29/2008

Recently had lunch here and was aghast to see a small insect crawling on the table next to us. I called over a waitress who merely glared at me with an annoyed look and huffed as she took a linen napkin and brushed the 6-legged creature off the table as if it were some lint. At that point, my friend and I left the establishment before the food ever arrived. I then filed a complaint with the Oakland County Hlth. Dept. Pros: right on the railroad tracks Cons: so dark one cant see the filth more

Best ""House"" birthday party banquet 4/26/2008

Straight off the highway from Minnesota, on 12/26, we ordered ""take out"" food for 16 to take to family for a post Christmas dinner. It was beautifully prepared, packaged and very much enjoyed by all our family who raved about the quality of the food.\r \r This past week, back home in Minnesota, we learned that on 4/22/08, our relatives and friends gave a super surprise birthday party for an adult nephew at a banquet for 10 planned with Cecelia's (co owner) assistance. The food was excellent, graciously served and much appreciated by all. Hats off to Peking House!\r Louise Thompson, Arden Hills, Mn. more

Best Chinese in Royal Oak 11/24/2007

We absolutely love Peking House. Try the steak and mushroom dish, it's absolutely wonderful! The specialties seem to be great choices. Highly recommend Peking House! Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Parking more

DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AT THIS NASTY PLACE!!! I'M SICK! GO TO YOUNGS INSTEAD!! 4/13/2007

After reading so many wonderful reviews, this was the WORST Chinese food I've ever had. It tastes like cardboard. I feel like there's a brick sitting in my stomach after eating this garbage. I don't know if I'll ever be able to get that awful smell out of my car. After specifically asking if they had included sauce, I was disappointed to find that there was no sauce in the bag to cover the nasty taste. What kind a schezwan chicken is PINK? It was awful - wasn't even spicy!!! I fully expect to be sick tonight. more

Great Chinese food, without the heavy feel. 11/3/2006

Very good food, service. The chicken sizzling rice soup I crave in my sleep... Good menu options, nice ambience. more

good for chinese 7/5/2006

The service is eh, but There are certain dishes that are great. The chicken soong ( lettuce wraps) are great and so is the gold coin beef. more

This place is supposed to be good? 12/5/2005

Okay, needless to say, I am very much less than satisfied with what Detroit offers in the way of Chinese food. I went to Peking House with a friend, as a last ditch effort to find some good Chinese food. Well, that Asians worked there was a first good sign. That was the end of the good sign, though. They were out of their signature dish, which is what I was really looking forward to (something similar to peking duck). (It was actually the only thing on the menu that looked appetizing to me.) Of course, that they were out of the dish wasn't told to me until after I had ordered it. After that, the rest of the meal was unappetizing. Haven't been back to any Chinese in Detroit since. Pros: Asian employees, ambience, decor Cons: Out of dishes, Service (Language), expensive for quality more

Excellent Upscale Chinese 10/6/2005

This is not the place to go for a huge bargain, but the prices are reasonable and the food is great. The service is also good. The glasses of wine could be a little bigger, but what can you do? more

My Favorite! 8/9/2005

This is without question the BEST Chinese food in the city! I refuse to go anywhere else! more

Favorite local asian carry out 7/5/2005

Before my fiance and I moved into the area, I couldnt get her to even consider eating chinese food. Then one day I brought the Boneless Almond Chicken home from the Peking House and changed her life forever!! I think they are very presistant with service and the quality of the food is very well presented. I like the speed of service. I can place a carryout order and I highly recommend the Peking House to anyone that wants very tasty asian food. Pros: speedy service, quality of food, value Cons: no delivery, parking more

Good yumy Chinese food 5/7/2005

I really like Peking House for dine-in, the food is good, despite the service being just avg. - really, have you ever been to a Chinese restaurant where the staff fawns all over you? Me neither. Except for the owner, he's a trip! But do dine-in, b/c the take-out just isn't as good. The garlic chicken and eggplant w/ rice is the best, and they have really good egg foo young. Definitely a solid Chinese restaurant! Pros: delicious, reasonably priced Cons: limited hours, mediocre take-out, pay to park more

stay away if you are in a group!! 11/22/2002

We went to Peking House for a team lunch..in a group of 13 people. The waitress was pleasant but the service was sloppy. Our orders were messed up. People were getting things they did not even order. It looks like the restaurant motto is 'as long as you have something to eat at the table, its fine - need not even be what you ordered..'. The waitress scribbled our order on a paper napkin!! She was unclear as to what was in some of the dishes. Our bill was a challenge to decipher..The food was decent..but with all the hassles in service - i'd advise you to go someplace else!! Pros: decent food, decent ambience, reasonable prices Cons: sloppy service, sloppy service, sloppy service more

good chinese in downtown R.O. 10/28/2002

This is an above average chinese resturant, in a good location, with a white tablecloth dining area. Could be considered upscale at a value price if you are eating in. more
