Peimentel (correct spelling: Pimentel) Sevie MD Family Practice 5/13/2006

We have been patients at West Memorial Family Practice since 1984. A few years ago Dr Pimentel took over as Dr Raymond Levin retired. Dr Pimentel is a multilingual physician medically trained in San Antonio and Houston TX. He is caring, thorough, knowledgeable and willing to assist his patients with treatment. Dr Pimentel works well with adults AND children. Dr Pimentel has been especially good treating extremely rare and chronic disorders in myself and my daughter. I was diagnosed a few years ago by Dr Levin with an extremely rare blood disorder usually only found as a result of leukemia treatments. Dr Levin quickly sent me to hematologists who said there was only 1 person to see at MD Anderson Leukemia Clinic in Houston. Upon meeting Dr Pimentel and discussing the results of extensive testing at MD Anderson he stated he had experience with my condition and rare treatment. He has been able to assist me in carefulmanagiement of the condtion with the guidance of the MD Anderson specialist. This means less trips to the TX Med Center and local testing and followup care which costs much less! Jessica Cowling, PA was trained in College Station, Houston and Galveston. She is an excellant compliment to Dr Pimentel. Attentive to detail and excellant with children, women's issues, etc. My daughter, now in 10th grade has a rare birth defect which has caused many related chronic health problems since birth. She has been treated by many Chief of Staffs at Texas Childrensl, Methodist and Memorial Hermann Hospitals. With the onset of women's issues, my daughter asks to see Jessica Cowling, PA to discuss matters with her personally and looks forward to seeing her again. Our previous pediatrician preferred to refuse to see my children for many sudden illnesses and instead wanted us to return to Texas Children's or a local emergency room for non-life threatening illnesses. After 13+ yrs of sudden, repeated trips to Texas Childrens or a local emergency room. We made the decision to have Dr Pimentel and Jessica Cowling also treat our 2 children. (How does a parent handle 2 children at an emergency room or TX Children's when your spouse is travelling on business?) Dr Pimentel has been very willing to see us on an emergency basis (once we established the kids as patients). Some of our unexpected disasters which the other West Houston and Katy area pediatrician and allergist/immunologists refused to see my children for have included: minor fall on the KES elementary school playground, stiches near my son's eyebrow and forehead due to another KJH boy running into my son in junior high PE, junior high PE injury to knee and ankle while running track. My daughter's special incidents have included repeated asthma and allergy related cough, pneumonia, bone and joint conditions, thyroid and hormonal inbalances, etc. Dr Pimentel and Jessica Cowling have always been accessible to us when the school nurse calls and says we need you to have your child seen by a Doctor right away because... Dr Pimentel and Jessica Cowling are also great at dealing with adults who hate to take time to go to the Doctor's office and/or prefer to avoid or put off treatment until they are very ill. They also are understanding of unusual work/travel hours, requirements and schedules. The office has added late hours Monday thru Thursday to be flexible for working adults and children needing to be seen AFTER school activities. more
