Had to laugh at the words ""sterile"" in one of the other reviews: that person has obviously never entered Peet's on Market in the Castro. Opened in 1992, this long, narrow space has concrete walls, old laminate floors, limited lighting (no fluoerescents) and well worn dark wood fixtures throughout. There is nothing chain-like about this place except the easy to read menus. The staff are friendly, warm and funny. Hundreds of people stop by here every day braving the long lines because the service and the drinks are outstanding.
