Busy places are always a good sign of a competent chef and this was no exception. We arrived without a reservation and were given a terrific table along this enormous windows overlooking the mountains. The chef (CIA grad and co-owner) comes from some of the best restaurants in NYC - and it shows. The food is not overly complicated with 9,000 ingredients - yet it has a complexity that you'd expect from a 5 star kitchen. Well thought-out wine list has tremendous values - Great small produced examples that won't break the bank. The service was super-friendly and professional - not what you'd expect in this remote area. The servers actually smiled, even when not at the tables - a sign to me that they enjoy what they do. I was told that it was expensive, but really, it's not - You'd pay double in the city for the same meal! There are a few other restaurants in the area that charge similar prices, for so-so food. Skip everyone else and head to the Peekamoose for a terrific dining experience! Oh, and did I mention the decor? So dramatic, artsy, yet, warm and inviting. Not a drop of pretention here...The owners, as well as the staff, seem to be enjoying their jobs in this undiscovered region of NY.
Pros: changing organic menu, great wine list - professional and sweet service
Cons: that I don't' live closer!
