I have been happy to take my three children to Pediatric Center of Round Rock. This office has been our pediatrician of choice for approximately three years now. Over the last six years (the age of my oldest daughter), our health insurance has changed frequently and therefore we used to switch pediatricians frequently. I have never had to worry about changing pediatricians after becoming patients at PCRR because they accept a wide range of health insurances. Even when we had a lapse in insurance coverage, the office staff was willing to work with us on payments so that my child(ren) could still be seen and cared for. When I call to schedule an appointment, the staff does everything they can to get me in when I am asking to be seen. If I need to bring my child in the same day for an illness or injury, there is always an available appointment with either a doctor or a nurse practitioner. On a few occasions, we have not been able to get a same day appointment with Dr. Katalenas (the main pediatrician and owner), but that is understandable because everyone wants to see her. Dr. Katalenas is a very caring, polite, respectful, trustworthy, and knowledgeable pediatrician. She has been great with my children and also with my husband and I as parents. There have been many occasions that my obsessive mommy emotions have taken over, and Dr. Katalenas (and the other providers in the office) have always taken the extra time to address my (sometimes unnecessary) concerns. I have heard some complaints about having to pay copays prior to seeing the doctor, but I can honestly say that most other offices collect copays at the beginning of the appointment as well. Honestly, I prefer to pay up front, because we all know that when you have a screaming toddler in your arms after getting shots, it is easier to just leave the building after the appointment than to think about writing a check. The office environment has always been calm, and inviting. The office staff, and medical assistants, as well as the providers are all great with kids! There have been several times that my children have trustingly wandered off with staff to visit while I attend to another child or use the restroom. The office manager has always been respectful and prompt when I have a question regarding their practices or procedures. The location is convenient and easy to find, and the weekend walk-in sick hours are also helpful. Overall, I have to say, of the many pediatricians I have been to in Round Rock and Austin (probably at least 10), my children have never received better care, and that is what matters most!
