Chocolat to make you speechless 7/31/2008

I never knew Peche Chocolat exisited until my wife and I spent a weekend at the Umstead hotel and spa. I stopped by the giftshop for a little treat and decided to try a Peche Chocolat strictly because I knew my wife would love its beautiful wrapping. Well she tried it,actually gave me a taste, and it made her weekend! My wife is a true CHOCOHOLIC and loves European chocolate. Eating this chocolate brought back memories of our travels to the ""Chocolate Valley"" close to Pisa. The following week I went to Peche Chocolat in City Market to find a huge selection of these chocolates. Finally, I can get truly extraordinary chocolates locally. Pros: Great Chocolates, Beautiful store, Knowledgable staff, Friendly service Cons: Parking, Not open on Sundays more

Great coffee drinks & gourmet chocolate 6/12/2007

The prices on coffee drinks are 1/2 that at Starbucks & great variety. The chocolates are worth every penny. My mom comes to Raleigh from up north & has to make a trip to Peche everytime she is in town. The store is very nicely decorated as well & very relaxing atmosphere to read a book, sip on coffee & eat your chocolates. The milk coconut cream piece is the best ever. Pros: taste & quality Cons: parking more

Superb 5/29/2007

Discovered this shop while visiting Raleigh from out of state. The experience was one of the highlights of our trip to downtown. This shop was comfortable, tastefully decorated and the service was friendly and knowledgeable. The dark and milk chocolate were the best we have ever eaten. The selection of chocolate and wine provided a nice opportunity to purchase gifts for our family and friends at home.\r We highly recommend a visit to Peche. Pros: Variety, comfortable and pleasant more

Peche de Chocolat 5/22/2007

The decor is very nice and the coffee prices seem reasonable. I think I might go there for a cup of coffee, but the chocolate is way below average. The chocolates are beautifully wrapped, but it seems to me that you're really paying for the packaging.\r \r One of my hobbies is tasting fine dark chocolate. The dark chocolate is only 65%, so it's low on the cacao. The aroma is tepid, the flavor is weak, and the aftertaste was unpleasant.\r \r A small square (~10g) cost $1.35 so 100 g would run about $13. There are tons of bars available that are much better than that. Even the widely available Lindt dark chocolates are much better. \r \r Bottom line: In the dark chocolate, a poor chocolate is way overpriced because of fancy packaging.\r \r I didn't try any milk chocolate because I don't prefer it, so the milk chocolate may be more to other people's liking. Pros: Very nicely wrapped ""present quality"" pieces; good variety; friendly owner; nice decor Cons: Way overpriced. Dark chocolate has a way below average taste. more

Chocolate, wine and coffee what else could you ask for 5/12/2007

Once in a lifetime experience. The perfect place to enjoy sinful chocolates while sipping a delightful Peche latte. Come enjoy this ""chocolate lounge"" while creating your own personalized gifts. They have it all, wine and chocolate baskets galore! What an excellent gift for a friend, lover or even a co-worker. Pros: modern European decor Cons: not open 24 hrs more

Died and went to heaven 3/17/2005

I'm a chocolate snob and a total foodie. I've sampled all the chocolate shops from La Maison du, to (ugh) Godiva. Peche is my favorite. They have wonderful complex chocolates that make my friends ooh and ah. The fillings are intense and varied. No, they're not cheap, but darn they're tasty; well worth the ""investment"". more

What a fabulous chocolate!!!!!!!!!! 3/16/2005

I have tasted chocolate from around the world. Wow. Who would believe that a Raleigh, NC would be the home of a chocolate that better than any other chocolate I have had. Amazing. I thought I did not like dark chocolate until I had tasted Peche dark chocolate. No other chocolate sold in the South East compares to it. 100% pure chocolate. more

Lovely 5/12/2004

Peche has been a favorite indulgence of mine since I discovered the small shop which features chocolates mainly from Turkey and Belgium, France and Jordan as well. I am always greeted with pleasant service that is not over bearing but always willing to answer questions. There is no pushy salesmanship, just the exhibit of fine products which speak for themselves. One piece of chocolate can be more satisfying than a whole slice of chocolate cake, so don't let the more expensive than Hershey's prices scare you off. Peche chocolate is worth every penny. Pros: product, atmosphere, service Cons: , parking more

Péché de Chocolat 5/5/2003

What a delightful shop! If you are looking for a wonderful gift for that special someone, you will probably find what you are looking for here, especially if they like fine chocolates. Imported gifts, exquisite candies... One of the nicer shops in Raleigh. Definitely a must see! more
