They work together with the Brazoria County Welfare office as well as local churches to provide assistance in times of emergency. You have to provide proof of identity and residence as well as necessity, but if you need the help they do so with an open heart.
They have a food pantry and give out free bread to everyone on Wednesdays. If you need help with rent or utilities, FEMA can make a one time check annually for up to $450. At the beginning of the school year, they provide vouchers for school clothes and school supplies.
They also offer counseling and job placement services. They often times offer seminars for various groups who may need guidance. They can refer to other agencies if they are not able to assist.
They do have limited hours and services. You may want to call ahead to see when they can assist you best as well as what you need to bring in to show that you qualify and have a necessity.
