Paxton Veterinary Clinic PC

Dr Updike was our family pet vet for decades. Dr Walker was our daughter's vet. Both Drs are caring & family oriented.After decades of great care for all out pets we moved out of area & miss their knowledge & friendly staff. Finding a vet that filled their shoes was a challenge. Not an easy task! We found a wonderful vet who has the same type setup & is just as kind as Dr Updike & Dr Walker. Small town closeness with big hearts & the expertise to do their job well. more

Dr. Walker was compassionate and kind during a very rough time. His work was outstanding (as told to me by the U of I vet school). I would recommend him to everyone. more

So far so good! They have been seeing our 2 dogs for 18 months now and have always been helpful, knowledgeable and courteous. more

I have been taking my cat and dog to the Paxton Vet Clinic for at least 6 years. They treat my animals as if they were my children. They are always helpful when I call for advice and are there when I need them in case of emergencies. Which happened today, they didn't hesitate when I called about my cat to tell me to bring him in right away. I have even recommended them to friends from work who now drive from Indiana to see them. more

I have NEVER been treated so rudely at any place of service! Every secretary there should be fired.. if that's how they treat their customers, I can't imagine how they treat the animals!! I can't believe they get any business at all except people are desperate to get their pets to a vet. These women have no place working anywhere except maybe the garbage dump. more

I recently took both of my rabbits there for spaying and neutering. The staff was not friendly at all (they did not even introduce me to the vet, they just whisked the rabbits away) and I do not think that they are very experienced with rabbits. My female rabbit passed away four days after she was spayed, I think because she was not eating enough. We started syringe feeding her the second day, but she would only eat a very little bit. Every rabbit website warns owners about females becoming depressed and not eating after spays, but Dr. Updike was very dismissive and said that he had never heard of it happening. Six days after the neuter, the sutures came out of the male, so I went to the U of I veterinary hospital and they fixed it up. I would never take a rabbit to Paxton Vet Clinic again. more

They are great or Golden retriever got run over by a logging truck, They patched him up for a really great price got him walking again,I love this clinic they are a life saver! more

My Labrador Sandy was taken in for spaying, I was called two hours later. I was told she was dead...\r Sometimes this happens this time it was your dog Mr. Walkers said this to me and my husband.\r I called Department of federal regulations ,they did investigate. Her death that day was not recorded.\r If anyone else has had such an experience here please share it with the Illinois Dept. of Federal Regulation.\r Her death was 1 year ago this month 11-3-07, I would like for this review to keep it from happening to your family.\r She is in my heart forever. more

I have taken my cat to them for 15 years! My parents take them their animals, too. They are the best all around. I even travel from Chicago to see them. One time, my cat got real sick and I took him to 2 vets in Chicago and was very distressed b/c they weren't giving him any care. I talked to the vets at Paxton and took a chance and brought my cat to them. They gave him all the care he needed and I left him there for 3 days to get better. I was so grateful. I truly believe that my cat would have died if I hadn't taken that chance! Thanks to everyone there!!! more

Excellent service, the doctors & staff are very friendly and knowledgeable. Dr Updike has treated every animal I have ever owned. They genuinely care about the animals and the owners and are very patient with explaining things when necessary. more
