I took my shih-tzu here for the very first time. After reading reviews about Ishmael being the best groomer, I decided to go along with scheduling the appointment with him. After being told that the grooming would take 1 hour, they literally called me to pick her up within a 1/2 hour! That was the 1st thing that striked me as odd.
2nd when I seen my pup, the cut looked very good from the 1st few glances. Then as I got her home, I realized her hair was very uneven, nails were hardly clipped, hence seeming as if the entire job was rushed.
Most importantly, 2 weeks later (yesterday) my pup started scurrying around the room and wouldn't let me check her tail area. I knew something was wrong at that point, so I rushed her to the vet. Come to find out, due to improper expression of her anal glands (basic grooming responsibility) 1 of them had burst. Not to say that Paws in Paradise was the cause of this, but from what I'm told along with other causes such as a lack in fiber, an abscess grows within 2 weeks and that's when she was there. To me, it's just to much of a coincidence. I had to spend $400 to get her taken care of, not to mention she is in excruciating pain right now.
Cons: haircut, possible cause of anal gland infection
