As a recent graduate of this school I can honestly say I loved my experience here! The learning leaders are all very good at what they do and worked hard to give me the skills I needed to become a great hairdresser. Sure, it can be like high school sometimes, but overall everyone has a great time and all of the extra activities you can get involved in make it a great experience. The school itself is is beautiful and the location is great! I loved it and would tell anyone to go! more

I am a graduate of this school and want to say that it was a wonderful experience. I learned so much while I was there. It was an awesome time. They have become like family to me. I was a part of our design team and we participated in lots of fashion shows and events around town. I went to school to become a colorist and fell in love with cutting. Mrs. Wendy and Jan were awesome teachers and now I am a cutter in an awesome salon in the Atlanta. Working on mannequins got me stressed sometimes, but it was worth it. I even went to a hair show in Vegas while I was a student. I won a product contest! Even after I graduated they let me take state board classes to get super prepared. They even throw an alumni party at the W downtown! Chic! more

The Worst Education A Future Stylist Could Pay For 2/26/2012

Let me begin with how excited I was to be apart of Paul Mitchell the School, I knew that I had done so much in the hair industry except school, with that in mind it was obvious that I deserved the best education, and what better place than one of the most reknown names in the world, Paul Mitchell. ""Or so I thought""! I HATE THIS SCHOOL. This was the worst decision of my life, I feel like I've wasted my time, the only time I felt like I learned anything was in core (the first few weeks) the teacher Mrs. Jackie takes pride in what she does, she's great! After testing out of there you hit the clinic floor, and this is where the mess comes in, there is no structure, no order, you basically have to finn for yourself, cool, but then, you have these teachers who give this place a bad reputation, most of their ATTITUDES STINK!!! Not only is this place like a high school, because there arepeople of all ages 18 & up that's aweful, everyones focus isn't the same, can you say Drama! The lady who I guess runs the place Carol, walks around like the Wardon, never saw her do a lick of hair, pretends to be pleasant, but she's really an @$$hole, no matter your age she'll try to treat you like a child. Most of the teachers on the clinic floor don""t possess the knowledge of the standards that I believed a Paul Mitchell School should have, none of them even look like stylist except maybe Tracey, Mary-Alex, and young Destiny the ones that possess any knowledge are either on the HOT SEAT(working on getting fired), frustrated or overwhelmed that its often impossible for the future professionals that need that extra pep talk or one on one education to get it. We pay $20,000 for these people to show us techniques on dvd by Scott Cole and brag about how great a stylist Scott Cole is (school founder) Love the man his energy is awesome, but they only show structure within the school, when he's in town making an appearance! Alot of the teachers are young in age and in my opinion don't have enough wisdom, experience, or Pizazz to teach the future creative trendsetters because they have no style whatsoever! Trust that I am not the only person that's going through this just about the entire student body feels the same, but once you sign that contract, welcome to the sweatshop lol! You too will be thrown to the wolves on the clinic floor feeling like you got robbed of $20,000, and you have to take clients to gain your knowledge so to speak, but your really making the school more money. Did I mention they promote diversity but there are lots of things you will not learn here Marcell Iron usage but more than anything you will NOT LEARN TO STYLE HAIR! You will only learn the fundamentals to get you through and how to use a flat iron. If I can't promise you'll learn anything else I promise you will be a Flat Iron PROFESSIONAL! Im not bashing people, I've just been let down by this experience, I set my standards of a Paul Mitchell School so high because I thought so highly of Paul Mitchell. I've had to snap back into reality, and mentally just be aware of the decision that I made, it just infuriates because I know now that Im just paying for the name ""Paul Mitchell"" not for the education that I desired. more

Is PM for me?? 5/4/2011

I am interested in going to hair school, but I am afraid that I wouldn't be as good as others, or good enough for the program. I have a lot of experience with hair color, but absolutely no experience with cuts. Is it normal for students to be in this position when they start? I hope I'm wrong, but I have this idea that when people start, they are already able to do amazing cuts (and color) and they just need to hone their skills. more

Really great service at a great price 1/22/2011

I have been going to Paul Mitchell, The School for a couple of years now and have always had a great experience. It's a fun, hip, intown kinda place with really good students and teachers working together to make you look beautiful. It's like going to a real high end Buckhead salon, but without the cost $$$$ and attitude. Cut, color, everything turns out great for me and I like the attitude and feel when I am there. I will keep going back..... more

Great deal!! 7/23/2010

I decided I could no longer spend $145 for highlights and $80 for a haircut! After talking with a friend I decided to go to Paul Mitchell the School Atlanta. She explained to me that they are students working toward their cosmetology licenses. I was worried, but I'm willing to try anything once. After checking in at the desk a student came to get me. She was very sweet and after the consultation I felt much more comfortable. A teacher came over and checked the color and cut a few times. Everyone was dressed in black and it was a great atmosphere. These students are going to be great stylist! During the blowdry, I could tell how much I loved the color. It was more than I asked for! The cut is fun and edgy! The recommend everyone give it a chance. When I was finished and my student took me to the desk to pay, my jaw dropped at the prices! I only spent $65 (less then I use to pay for just a haircut)! The girls at the desk helped me pick out some products and I felt so good about myself. I have been getting so many compliments! Pros: Great service, low prices Cons: A little more time consuming more

Wonderful Experience 4/2/2010

I will start by saying that I am a recent college grad so affordability was my main objective. I chose PMTS because compared to other schools in the area, I had heard the most successful outcomes from here. I made an early appointment which was fortunate because my cut/color took 5 hours. But it was so worth it! I have thick naturally curly hair. I got a cut, color (from blonde to red), and thinning, so I knew it would take a while. I would suggest requesting a Phase II student unless you are getting something very basic done like a trim. My stylist Samantha seemed fairly confident, and when she wasn't, she would ask one of the instructors. The only thing that concerned me a bit was that the instructors were not always on the same page- my stylist told me that her instructors where disagreeing completely on how to mix my color- something you think they would agree on at a school- but my color came out great. Samantha had great judgement, and with all the hours these girls/guys put in, they have a good grip on what they are doing. It got busy towards the end of my appointment, and ever client I saw leave looked great. I have no doubt that if I did not like my end result, an instructor would have gladly fixed it. Just remind yourself that you came to this salon, and they are students- be patient, give them feedback, and have faith that everything will come out better than when you started. I would totally recommend the experience- and I also saved about $125! Pros: Kind staff, attention to detail, clean facility Cons: Time consuming more

Limited knowledge for African-American hair 12/23/2009

Today, I visited the salon for the 3rd time. I went in knowing that the style was not going to be great - my style always looks better when I get there than when I leave - but expected the service outside of the finished style to be good. Having un-relaxed, natural African-American hair, I require a good shampoo/conditioner, blow-dry and flat iron finish. Today, I was really in need of a trim which was the real reason for the visit. Pros: Friendly, nice atmosphere, cost efficient Cons: Too many hands in the pot more

Best deal in Atlanta! 9/16/2009

My hair looks great! I got color and cut for less than just a cut at my old salon! The atmosphere was very professional and the whole service was a lot of fun! My stylist impressed me with her hair knowledge. I;ll be going back very soon. Pros: Great hair without breaking the bank Cons: takes a little longer more

Great School 11/25/2007

I am so happy that I picked Paul Mitchell, this school is really great, the staff, the teachers, and the students really make this place a great learning environment. I am getting ready to graduate and I already have a job. This school gave me all the tools I need to make money in this industry. Thank you PMTS Atlanta!!! more

Amazing Atmosphere! 11/21/2007

I am a student at PMTS Atlanta and absolutely love it. The atmosphere, people, and teaching techniques are the best. We are located in midtown, so the atmosphere is young and trendy. The teachers are attentive and very helpful with not only the students but also the clients that come. Some may be skeptical about getting their hair done at a beauty school, the students here are top notch and will one day be in a upper class salon. My advice is don't go anywhere else, make an appointment. Pros: being able to have a great hairstyle at a lower cost! more

The ONLY choice for Hair School 11/21/2007

If you are looking for the best education, and the land of opportunity for hairdressers this is the place. I graduated from here recently and all I can tell you is this in the best decision I have ever made. Great staff, Great teachers, Great students. Its right in Midtown so the clientel is young, and the opportunity for jobs is endless! I couldd not have asked for anyting better! If you are thinking of going to hair school this is the place, if you are looking for a great hair cut or color this is also the place! more

The best hair experience ever!!!!! 11/8/2007

I would definitely recommend having your hair done here! From the time I walked in the door it was a really fun, cool, affordable experience. Vance did my hair better than i've had it done at overpriced ""trendy"" salons. The teachers were very attentive not just to my hair, but actually asked me how i was feeling, and offered me a water- how cool is that? more
