In ShortLocated almost exactly between Los Angeles and San Francisco, Paso Robles is a city of almost 30,000 that's managed to retain a small-town vibe. Independent stores and restaurants line a leafy main square, and there's not a Gap or Borders in sight. The soil and weather conditions around this Central Coast town are just as good for growing grapes as they are north of San Francisco. Numerous wineries include distinguished regional names like Villicana and Castoro Cellars.
