Partridge In A Pear Tree

Went here after a horrible experience at Sandra's Bridals in Naz. I thought the store was really pretty and they did have some nice, but overpriced, apparel. I found one dress on my own and tried it on. The owner is very old, and was completely focused on one woman in the store. She never greeted me, or said she'd be happy to help me in a few minutes, nothing. I refuse to spend the $$ she's asking for no customer service whatsoever. Plus, the woman she was helping looked awful in what she was trying on and the owner kept telling her how lovely she looked! Don't need that kind of help! Save your snobbery for someone else, I work too hard for my money to give it to you! Here's my tip: DON'T WASTE YOUR PRECIOUS TIME!! more

Awful, awful salespeople! My mother and I went shopping here for a mother of the bride dress and had a terrible experience. Not only were the saleswomen rude, but they made several comments about my mother's size. If a dress did not fit her the woman would loudly exclaim, "this is too small, you need a larger size!" and would then insist that she take it off immediately. They also told her to put the dresses on over her head and would peek into the dressing room repeatedly to make sure that she was doing as they demanded. Then I decided to bring a red dress over for my mother to try, and the older woman immediately took it from me and told us that it was not appropriate for a mother of the bride and that she couldn't try it on. My mother then asked nicely if she wouldn't mind letting her try it to look at the style and the woman said, "I DO mind!!! You cannot try it!" We then left because we were so disgusted by how rude and awful this saleswoman was. My mother and I were shocked at how poorly we were treated in this store and will never be going back.\r \r I would recommend that anyone interested in going here think twice about it and go somewhere where they will actually treat you like a human being. more

Extrordenary store and staff. I found a one of a kind dress. They have so many selections to choose from .The staff is wonderful .I left there very very happy.Thank u !!!!!! more

I went to this store with my daughter to purchase a MOB dress for her wedding. Although they had many dresses to choose from, the sales person refused to help me and told me to go away and come back 1-2 months before the wedding. Unbelievable! I have never been treated so rudely. No wonder there were no other customers in the store! I ended up getting a beautiful dress for half the price at another store where they were happy to have my business. more

Just bought a dress for my son's wedding. Mary was so helpful. Showed me things I would never have picked on my own. Loved everything. Wonderful selection, excellent customer service, merchandise is nicely displayed and priced right. If you need a dress for a special occasion this is the place to go. more

My son is getting married this year 2011, and I went to your shop to try and find my perfect long dress for this very special occassion. I picked out several dresses and was helped by Mary the owner who was very friendly and accomodating to me. The third long dress I tried on was ""My Perfect Dress"", it even brought tears to my husbands eyes. I felt very elegant in my dress and I purchased it with no regrets. I would definitely go back to your store again, and recommend it to other friends!!! more

Love this shop! Took my 84-year-old mother for a gown for her grandson's wedding. Expected to go to a number of stores, but instead had at least 6 lovely choices here. She's thrilled with her gown, and will look gorgeous. I looked for a dress for the same wedding, with not much hope as a plus-size. Again had several wonderful choices, and bought two. Mary's help was invaluable, her suggestions spot-on. When she says ""that's not for you"" it's because it's not a flattering style on you. That means a lot from someone in this business. She wants you to look your best, and has the selection to ensure that you will! more

After reading all the negative reviews for this store I almost didn't want to go there but what I have experienced is reviews are only a matter of someone else's opinion....which is always right or wrong. more

This was one of those great shopping experiences, the selection was superb, so much of just the right thing, all in one place. The personal service was wonderful, and although they were slightly busy, they took their time with me, and didn't make me feel rushed, instead the emphasis was on picking out what was right for me, and n the right amount. Great place! more

I have never had such a poor shopping experience in my entire life. I should have read the reviews before going out to this boutique. My son is getting married in six months, so I went here to buy a dress, perhaps two. At first glance I was impressed by the large inventory of formal wear and business clothing. I was glad to see they were not very busy. The salesperson made eye contact with me several times, but never spoke. Finally, I had to ask if I could try on four gowns I had selected. She seemed reluctant, then ""allowed"" me to have a dressing room. We made small talk about where I live and where the wedding would be held, etc. (I live in a neighboring county, but I shop in the Lehigh Valley most of the time. The wedding is at a country club in my county.) I tried on two dresses, and I knew they were not right. I told her the bride's mother hadn't decided on a color, yet, but I was sure she wouldn't be wearing anything in the plum family. I was ready to try on the two aubergine (plum) gowns and they were not on the hanger outside of the dressing room. I politely told the woman that she had accidentally put back the other two dresses and she said they weren't right for me and they couldn't be altered, anyway! I told her I wanted to try them on for the color and to see if the style was right, and she told me, ""We don't do that."" WHAT??? I had $1000 cash in my purse, and would have spent it in an instant on the right dress; the woman wouldn't even let me try them on!!! I am still in shock, as are deedee30, Suska, Kay474, and Ladyluck16TL!!! I know I didn't meet the nice women that Carol S. and Eagle00072 deal with. We went to this dress shop for the first time and we will never be back!!! The owner is the rudest salesclerk I have ever talked to! The one saleslady was nice and helpful but the older one was rude and crude! I have talked to a number of people since I went there and they said the same thing about the one lady... How are they still in business????? I will never send anyone to that store! more

It has taken me several months to put aside my anger and write this review. One year prior to my daughter's wedding I went to this shop with my sister. My goal was to see what kind of dresses were sold and also to try on a few dresses so that I could get a feel for a style that would work for me. No one offered me any help. When I took several dresses back to the fitting room, I was told to sit and wait while the saleswoman helped one other customer (yes, there was only one other costumer at the time!). After about 20 minutes I was allowed in a dressing room. To my surprise, I tried on and loved the first two dresses. However, when the saleswoman found out that the wedding was one year away, she told me in clear, loud, condescending voice, ""You are wasting my time. Come back in January and I'll dress you appropriately for a Country Club reception"". Needless to say, I was shocked! My sister is a store manager in charge of 90 employees. She said that she would fire any employee who spoke that way to a customer. A soon-to-be bride was shopping with her mother. She actually apologized for the saleswoman and told me that I was not wasting her time! I have never experienced such rude treatment. There is a happy ending to this story. I found a stunning shop just outside of Philadelphia and spent quite a bit of money on a gorgeous dress! I will never recommend Partridge in a Pear Tree based on my experience. For the past eight years at least I have shopped at this store and have never had a problem. Mary and Dana have always gone out of their way to serve me whether it be a wedding, graduation, attire for a cruise, a dress for a pagent, or simple articles of clothing to chaperone school trips with my children, or a dress for church. In additon I have always found the proper accessories such as shoes, purses and jewelry. If I ever did have a problem it was always corrected efficiently and effectively. Never has Mary or Dana been rude to other customers nor have they been rude to me. There was a time in my life when I worked as a bridal consultant myself. People must remember that this is a speciality shop. Very expensive stock is at risk. By this I mean people come into to the store wearing pounds of makeup and jewerly and get offended when asked to remove it. Remember, these dress are not sales, but pieces that can be immediately sold off the floor. This enables the customer to purchase something without ordering and many time is a one and only piece. Make-up stains and jewerly will catch on many o the fine fabrics offered. People do not want damaged goods but it is not the responsibily of the owner to correct the problem due to the neglect of the customer., The customer should know better. In addition the customer needs to allow time. Selecting something at a specialilty shop is just that, special and one needs to allow time a d patience to do so. I will continue to shop at Partridge in a Pear Tree, and will highly recommended it to anyone looking for a speciality dress, or simply something to wear to church, or on vacation. I know I have found things there that are in style, and not found in any other stores in the area and always receive plenty of compliments. Pros: Personal Service and a fantastic selection more

I have been to about fifty drss shops/boutiques over the last 3 years for Mother of the bride dresses for my daughters' weddings. The sales women and owner are the most obnoxious women I have ever met. I found a dress I Iiked and unfortunately could not find another boutique that had the same dress. I tried desperately to find another dress somewhere else so i would not have to give these rude people a cent. Having no luck I did buy the dress (and they marked up the price) only to get it home and find out it smelled as moldy as the boutique. Shopping for a dress for you child's wedding should be a fun and exciting experience-so I highly recommend you avoid this boutique so it can be. My shopping experience at Partridge in a Pear Tree was absolutely the worst ever! I was shopping, on Saturday, for a dress for my daughter's wedding. I usually like to shop around before I make a final decision or purchase, especially for something as important as this. The sales people were so rude when I mentioned that I was not sure whether the dress was the right one and I would have to think about it. I mentioned that I would like my daughter and husband to see the dress before I made a decision. Apparently the sales clerk thought my need of approval from some family member was bizarre or at the very least humorous, because she proceeded to mock me and try to make a fool out of me in front of the other customers and sales clerk. I have never experienced anything quite like this! I can assure you I will never shop at this store again and would never recommend it to anyone! more

My mother and I went there for a dress for her to wear to my wedding which is coming upvery soon. We went in and saw a couple things that we liked and when the woman came over, she asked waht we were looking for and I said a mother of the bride dress and then she asked where the wedding was and we told her and she got really rude, because she never heard of it. When we did finish picking dresses she told us all the rooms were full but actually there were 2 empty. We were so mad we left. Oh well it turned out good because we went to Carols in Northampton and paid 1/2 the price for a dress that was so much nicer then anything they had anyway. more
