This place is worse than a jail house, I was a resident for all of a week before I had to leave AMA because I couldn't handle the abuse and neglect I saw being dished out on resident's there. I witnessed the staff laugh at people with mental disabilities call people rude and hurtful things and generally be rude. The food they served was barely edible and never fullfilling. I suffer from a mild dual diagnois and needed a safe place to begin a transition for independent living. After my parent's had visited me a few times they were demanding I be transferred to Calvin Johnson in Belleville, when the staff knew I was leaving the behavior became even more neglectful and abusive. Many of the other residents are not as fortunate as me and have no advocacy from any one to help them. Some are fearful of retaliation if they speak out about anything. When I read the latest inspection reports, I discovered many negative things including many employees never having background checks as well as many other violations. This place was hell on earth. If you love someone, don't let them be put here.
