If you want to save money Parisian is the way to go BUT 5/21/2010

I?m writing this review to help people out there to decide if they want to save money and try their luck at a beauty school vs. paying exorbitant salon prices. I wanted to do permanent color on my long black hair into super duper black. I initially had a salon appointment at Jon Anthony for $85. I realized that the economy sucks and I wanted to save money. So I canceled it. I figured I was doing a very basic color so I did not want to pay that high amount. I went to Parisian on Tuesday May 13 at 7:00PM. The It was hard to find parking as the lot was crowded. There was already about 10+ people waiting. I signed in and was at #13. I initially thought I had an appointment but I was informed by the front desk that night time it?s a first come first serve basis. If I was on the list under 15, she said I should be able to be served. I was asked to sign a waiver ? aka if anything bad happens its not their fault. I waited for about 15-20 minutes and my name got called. I was served by a Spanish woman who didn?t speak good English. She was nice but unfortunately conversation with her was close to non existent. Everyone were all in a rush and this poor girl kept trying to get the teacher?s attention but sometimes was ignored. The teacher assesses how much it would be to color my hair and initially quoted me $34. The reason is because my hair was really long ? 5 inches above my butt. I was fine with the price because I know in a real salon they would have charged me $85 maybe even more (since salons charge you if they see your hair is REALLY long) Making a long story short, the service is not as good as a salon. In a salon they were more, how would you call it, customer oriented? But here, their kinda just learning and doing the procedure by the book. When I was sitting waiting for my 35 minutes hair to soak in the color, the Spanish lady disappeared to look at the other students/learn from the teacher somewhere. So I was left sitting there and I?m pretty sure I waited more than 35 minutes (probably 10 minutes late) when she came back. I wasn?t too worried only because I was doing black hair color. When she went to wash my hair, another student/teacher (?) had to instruct her the proper way of washing. There was no towel placed on my face to cover from any splashing water as they normally do in salons. There was no massage or things like that. After that about 2-3 people actually blowdried my hair. It wasn?t as comfortable since they were tugging etc. etc. but I didn?t care because their blowdrying was very thorough ? aka a round brush and all that ? not just waving the blowdryer all over the hair. In real salons that kind of blowdrying would be an additional $10-25 especially since I have REALLY long hair. Yay! I knew I was going to come out looking great. I kinda felt bad because I had a lot of hair. The end product I was VERY satisfied. My hair was REALLY black and my hair was really straight with nice little waves at the end. How much did I pay? $26. Yep not the actual price quoted. I was all done at 10PM. I felt bad for the Spanish lady because she kept calling the teacher to look at the finished product but the teacher kept ignoring her (?) or maybe the teacher was too busy looking at other students. So my verdict: Don?t expect a salon treatment of comfort and leisure but if you want to save money and get your beauty treatments done, go here. It?s a first come first serve so go there early. Looks like with this economy lots of people show up. I will go here again for my hair coloring. When I was there for my nail appointment I saw a young girl come out with a REALLY great haircut. So I may schedule a haircut there too which I will write a review for later. BASIC PEDICURE: $15. end result looks nice but was underwhelmed by massage and cleaning. I will try their more expensive pedicures maybe it will be better. Pros: Great Prices vs. Salon - HAIR COLOR REVIEW Cons: Not as ""customer servicey/comfort oriented"" as a real salon more

Unpleasant experience 6/4/2008

Last week, I got a haircut and highlights done at Parisian, and it was pretty BAD experience. The hair wash was a minute long and didn't even get my entire head wet, and the blow-dry was weak, unprofessional and sloppy, leaving chunks of my hair still wet by the end. more
