Amazing selection, fantastic service... As someone who has lived in numerous metropolitan areas including NYC and DC I can honestly say that no place I've been (and I've been a spectacle wearer for 40 plus years) has the breadth of selection as Paris West. The staff is laid back and non-pressuring but will offer honest and insightful opinions when solicited. The owner is truly passionate about presenting the best independent eyewear collections that are available and is serious about making sure that all clients are satisfied with their experience. They even re-did my lenses and re-checked my eyes at no charge when it turned out that my original prescription wasn't up to snuff. Yes you read that right, my expensive progressive lenses were re-done at NO CHARGE. Thanks again to everyone at Paris West ,I am seeing better than ever and I will be back! more

At first they were ok, then they scratched my frame twice, then when I told them I do not want some feature, they made me feel cheap... f**k them, I know better what I need and can afford. I will not go there again and hope you have a better experience if you do. more

Excellent! 7/8/2010

I've been shopping at Paris West for over a decade now and not once have I ever felt the need to even look somewhere else in the Baltimore area. They carry an immense selection of luxury, high-end and funky eyeglasses and I have always have a hard time narrowing the choices down. The entire staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I look forward to my next purchase in the fall. more

World Class with a Charm City Twist 5/24/2009

I've never seen so many interesting unique european designs in one shop before. The entire staff helped my friend and I narrow down an endless list of possibilites to find a pair that I absolutely love. If you go make sure to ask for help, otherwise it can be overwhelming. Listen, So I am a type-A, meticulous, glasses snob....I admit it...I think that generic, soulless frames are ridiculous, and I am willing to look extensively for *exactly* what I want- Glasses that are unique, stylish and sophisticated, durable and high quality... A fantastic experience 1/21/2009

On the advice of a friend I decided to stop in and have an eye exam. I am a first time ""bifocal"" wearer and was apprehensive about what to do. My exam with Dr. Rubin was very comprehensive and the help from the staff in selecting attractive and suitable frames was exceptional. It's taken a little while but I am now functioning with my new varilux lenses perfectly and have received many compliments on my new ""look"". If you like being Ignored 12/9/2008

I was looking for a new Optical shop Paris West is right dow the street from my offid, so I go. Went in and was ignored, waited and waited, as I was about to leave a woman quickly ran over to me and asked if I was trhough browsing? I said who said I was browsing? I came in for service waited you were on the phone 10 mins by my watch and no one helped me. So now I am leaving and NOT coming bac, ok? Too bad because this place looks like I could spend lots of my dollars here! I left. I went shopping on the web and I went to Baltimores Other Best in Owings Mills whis does live up to their reputation at Shear Opticians. Yes, I wrote a review on their website today also, to let everyone know you have staff problems and I was a ""lost"" consumer"" because of it....keep you eye open ...is my advice to the owner...Your staff only performs when you are in the store! Pros: Beautiful Store, Great City Local, Great Selection Cons: No Service from staff, no greeting, on the phone , was ignored...too bad more

Wonderful service! 9/24/2008

I am an out of town visitor,who accidentally broke the arm of my eye.glasses.. you know the 'clear tape on glasses look'. One national chain practically laughed me out of their store.. so i walked up N Charles and came to Paris West. The staff immediately offered help; identified a large 'parts supply' in their back room, and within 30 minutes had a new arm installed on my difficult to match frames. In addition to on the spot service, they refused to charge, saying that all repairs are free.. . more

Wide selection of super cool designer and boutique frames at competitive prices. Outstanding service ? the staff are welcoming and personable and were exceptionally patient and helpful during my first ever contact lens fitting. I was also given a discount as a loyal customer. Their optometrist is highly skilled, professional and very easy to talk with - the only downside is that he is only there once a week. Hands down they're one of Mob town's best and I wouldn?t go anywhere else for my eyeware and eyecare! more

Charming Optical shop in the heart of Charm City 2/7/2008

Was familiar with this shop from a while back when I went with a friend to assist with her eyewear selection. Once I hit the dreaded 40 and needed a pair for myself I went in for myself. Had a very thorough eye exam from Dr. Rubin and then got excellent fashion and fitting tips from Aubrey and Jordan, my personal frame consultants. Ended up with 2 pairs as I couldn't decide between the final 2 candidates. The frames are very mod and fashionable and they have lots to choose from. I am very satisfied. more

Wonderful selection & friendly staff 2/6/2008

I've walked past many times but after many recommendations decided to stop in. No pressure/non-commisioned sales staff was friendly and helpful in finding many great choices to flatter my face, work with my thick lenses and fit my budget. After a long deliberation and multiple visits I finally settled on a beautiful tortoise pair that has been great so far. There's no other place like it in the area and if you wear glasses every day you really should check this place out. Pros: Very friendly staff, large selection, reasonable prices for a boutique Cons: the display cases are locked, but I guess that's to be expected in a large city more

Very large interesting selection of cool glasses. Service was very good. Lots of designer names and cool colorful stuff from Europe. Only problem was parking, but there is a lot across the street if you buy something they'll pay for it- nice. more

Went to Paris West Optical on the advice of a friend and they were as great as she told me they were. Very helpful but not pushy with a very large selection of high style frames. I left with a great pair of glasses that I get many compliments on. Recommended highly. more

awesome sunglass selection and ""extra mile"" service. 12/25/2007

First let me say that I don't wear eyeglasses so I can't speak on that subject, but they seem to have an impressive selection. The sunglasses, however are out of this world. Every brand I can imagine from Prada to Armani to Paul Smith to Oakley...all of it. I was actually looking for an older Chanel model for my girlfriend which was not in stock. The sales person went out of her way to check inventory online and then to special order the model for me. They even had it shipped so it would arrive in plenty of time for Christmas. Then, because of work commitments I was unable to pick it up before they closed for the holiday. I called Saturday in a panic and Jordan, the owner, agreed to meet me on a Sunday (his day off) in Owings Mills near my house and deliver them to me. Needless to say he saved Christmas for me...and my girlfriend is thrilled. Paris West Optical now has a customer for life. Thanks again and Happy Holidays! Excellent selection of frames. Very fine customer service - cooperative and helpful. 5/19/2007

When I first moved to Baltimore a friend introduced our family to Paris West. We have bought glasses and have had prescriptions filled there since 2000. The selection of fashionable frames is excellent ( I always shop styles in the various places I travel - U.S. and abroad). The care and cooperation ,while going through the adjustment traumas of eye surgery, has been patient and considerate. And, very importantly ,the cost is reasonable for this level of quality and service. My husband and I went to Paris West to get glasses based on it's city search review based on its overview rating. Let us just tell you, it's the best place to get glasses in baltimore. The decor of the store is really chic and modern. There are so many displays but the owner, Jordan will just show you what you are looking for. He went out of his way to get us our glasses in 2 days because we are going on an international trip for 1 month! Jordan is really passionate about his profession and one can tell from the way he is with his clients. He really knows his stuff. We had a great time shopping there... i read the negative feedback from a previous reviewer, and had to respond. i went to paris west for the first time a few months back, and everything went just swimmingly. the optician and the sales staff were friendly and knowledgable. the frame selection was not as large as other places i have been (outside downtown baltimore) but it was diverse. i must have tried on nearly every pair of spectacles before finding my oh-so-glamourous miu miu frames, and the staff couldn't have been more pleasant or patient, even though i am far from what one would normally consider your average bougie charles village shopper. i constantly get complimented on my glasses, and cheerfully turn others on to paris west every time. and as a city-dweller with no automobile, the location is perfect! i can't wait to return for sunglasses this spring! more

Worth the Trip 11/29/2005

I'm shocked by the previous ""bad"" review. I've been a customer there for 11 years. I'm in a highly visible field and regularly get compliments on the glasses from Paris West. I'm hard on my glasses and, though I do not have optical insurance, buy at least a pair a year. I have purchased from the chains and have shopped other boutiques, Jordan (the owner) always has the latest styles and in the end his glasses are, for me, better value than what I've seen or bought elsewhere. Additionally, when I've had a problem, he's gotten it fixed without any fuss. I've reccommended this place to plenty of satisfied friends. Pros: Selection, Staff, Location more

WOW! 11/23/2005

Not quite sure what the other reviewer was looking for but I was overwhelmed by the huge selection of designer eyewear I found when I visited. Every designer from Armani to Prada and unique products that I have never seen before. I wear progressive lenses and the price I received was over $90 less than I had previously paid 2 years ago.
