I visited the grand canyon on holiday in Feburary of this year. it was part of a trip around California, Nevada and Arizona. We took a tour with Paradise Found Tours to The South Rim of the Grand Canyon. Not a bad price at $80.00. We stopped in Williams, which is the town that is closest to the main road that leads into the southern rim of the Grand Canyon. We ate a delicious buffet. Picked upa few souvenirs of route 66 then on our way to the canyon. It was about an hour's drive from Williams to the Grand Canyon.
When you do encounter the Grand Canyon, no matter what you have read about it, no matter how grand you expect it to be, all these impressions will be dwarfed by the real thing. it is so immense and deep that you just cannot take it all in. This is one of the most awe inspiring things you will ever see and if you ever get the chance you have to take it. The tour itself offers two major points of interest, Mather Point and Bright Angel viewpoints. Three hours at the park was not enough, I'd recommend spending an overnight if you can. There is lots to do here. We did see the famous front of Hoover Dam on the way back from the bus for over a minute. It was awesome seeing it all lit up at night.
Got back to our hotel around 9 PM. Great trip.
