Paradis (395 North Main Street, Brewer, Me) is a small neighborhood grocery store that carries big name products and has something for everyone. It's a family business well-known to locals. Paradis is a great place to get a sandwich, a gallon of milk, cold soda, a fresh loaf of bread, or everything you need for a Sunday barbecue. You'll pay a little more here for the basics, but the friendly, old-fashioned convenience makes it worth the difference. They also carry a limited selection of movie rentals but much cheaper than your local Blockbuster/Movie Gallery. They don't have long lines like some of the bigger grocery chains, so you can get in and out in a flash. Oh yeah, don't miss the cookies they sell at the deli, the fresh black olives, and the sweet corn in summertime.
