In response to Cathy's post about Chinese Restaurants, I was going to respond, but decided to write a review about another place here in Traverse City, Panda North. They are located in Logan's Landing, right on the Boardman River. They do a great Sushi Buffet. They do it a little different from most buffets. Instead of making food up ahead of time, and putting it out for consumption, they do it table-side; it's made fresh to order. You simply write on the menu sheet what you would like and how many of each, and they make it from scratch.
Now, I never thought in a million years I would eat sushi (which is presumably raw fish, but is actually a roll made with a sheet of nori (dried seaweed) and sushi rice with vinegar accompanied by fish and/or vegetables) or sashimi (raw or cooked fish on a small piece of sushi rice), but I must say, I tried it and now I'm hooked!! (No pun intended LOL)
My personal favorites are the Eel and Red Snapper Sashimi, Shrimp Tempura roll, Volcano roll (Spicy!) and Spicy Tuna Roll. If you like Salmon, the Philadelphia Roll has Smoked Salmon, cream cheese, scallions, & masago (a type of caviar). The lunch and dinner buffet is all you can eat and is reasonably priced at $14.99 for lunch and $17.99 for dinner. If you like fish and seafood, you should try it. You will probably really like it. If eating bait isn't your thing lol, the Chinese cuisine is excellent as well. The Sesame Chicken has been a house specialty for years, probably the best in Traverse City, in my opinion. The vegetables are very fresh and the meats are excellent cuts. I've gotten to know the owners quite well over the last few years, because I work right next door to their restaurant. Very nice and polite couple. If you want more info, here is the link to their website

Don't be afraid to try the sushi, you'll be glad you did!
