Pancake Pantry 7/4/2006

If you are visiting Nashville, TN make time for breakfast at this local favorite. Don't be put off by the line-it moves fast and the place seats a large number of people. Of course I ate pancakes on my visit. I tried the house specialty-sweet potato pancakes-and they were perfect. There is nothing fancy about the place, just great food and wonderful coffee. The menu is extensive with all the basics and some wonderful pancake options. Pricing is affordable. I will go back! more

well worth the money 3/25/2006

Dry swiffer cloths are one of the best inventions I've ever found. They are amazing on my hardwood floors. I can run my mighty might canister vaccuum on the floors and then immediately use my swiffer, and what I collect on the swiffer is amazing. I like the newer cloths that have deeper pockets that pick up larger things. I don't care what they cost, they are worth it to me. I usually buy them though at Dollar General and spend about $4-5 for 16 cloths. There are not many items that I buy without a coupon, but this is one of them. They work GREAT! more

Good but overrated 3/21/2006

The Pancake Pantry has an almost cult following in Nashville. On weekend mornings - and even some weekday mornings - the line is out the door and to the end of the block. While their pancakes are really good, they aren't stellar, and the rest of their food is pretty average. I've seen a few country music stars, but there are much better places to spot those, where you probably won't be waiting in line for two hours and eating mediocre food in the process. more

Good breakfast 3/16/2006

I think that Pancake Pantry is good but honestly overrated especially for a place where the wait is at least an hour long. The food is good and it is nice to be in a place for breakfast that is not one large cloud of smoke. They give you pancakes as a side with all meals which is strage to me but might be a southern thing. Worth checking out but not sure I would do it often. more

The best breakfast food around 12/22/2005

Pancake Pantry is worth the hour-wait you'll have if you decide to go even remotely within breakfast hours. To avoid the wait, try hitting before 8-9 AM, or after noon. You'll still have a bit of a wait, but they turn over remarkably quickly for such a long line. And the food... is... spectacular. The best omelettes in town, and of course pancakes too! more

Doesn 't get much better 11/8/2005

The Pancake Pantry is truly a Nashville icon! I have friends that come from out of town and absolutely must eat here every time! Expect to wait in line on weekend mornings as the line will circle around the building. The wait is very much worth it regardless of your fancy. Whether it be french toast or one of the many varieties of pancakes... from the traditional to the not so traditional. They have a variety of syrups too that make this place so special. There is a lot going on here. They aim to please but do concentrate on getting customers in and out quickly. They will do whatever it takes to please the customer though. I freeze at this restaurant for some reason - so bring your coats, hats and mittens! more

The wait is worth it 8/26/2005

Pancake Pantry is famous for its weekend-morning line that usually stretches around the corner, full of people willing to stand and wait for those pancakes. I am often one of those people. If you're a pancake or French toast fan, the wait really is worth it. Pancake Pantry has so many interesting pancake varieties -- the usual blueberry is on the list, but so is a Swedish pancake with lingonberries, silver dollar pancakes, a Caribbean version with coconut and pineapple, sweet potato pancakes . . . Be sure to ask for the cinnamon cream syrup; it's so much better than ordinary maple. A warning: the service is about speed and functionality. There's not much warm fuzziness going on. Also, bring a sweater or jacket. It's always freezing in the restaurant. I don't know why. more
