This place is a total scam. I will never trust them with my cars again. \r

My son brought his green 1998 BMW 323 into Pampered Auto two weeks ago, complaining of steam rising from the engine, a check engine light and the battery suddenly dying. He mentioned verbally that it had overheated, but this was not written in the paperwork. After a $945 repair for a faulty water pump and a few oil leaks, Pampered Auto told my son that the car was fixed. They did not test drive the vehicle. If they had, they would have seen that it was not fixed. After my son paid for the repair, he drove it home and within 1/2 mile, the car overheated again. Pampered Auto said this wasn't their fault, as it wasn't written on the work order. My son (an 18 year old senior at LHS), brought the car back in for service. Pampered Auto said it could be the thermostat, so they replaced that and the thermostat coupler, as well as installing a new radiator. The total cost for repairs was $867. Again, they did not test drive the car, or they would have seen that they didn't fix the problem. After paying for repairs, and being assure that the car was fixed, my son drove it home, only to have it overheat within a mile. This time, Pampered Auto said it was a head gasket problem. We cannot afford to get that fixed, as we have just spent over $1700 in repairs in the last two weeks.\r

I feel like if the car had been properly driven after each 'repair', the mechanic would have seen that the problem wasn't fixed. I believe that diagnosing the thermostat as faulty led to unneeded expense in the repairs, and had the vehicle been given a proper diagnoses when we first brought it in, we would have saved the $1700 we spent and just sold the car for parts. It feels like the Pampered Auto mechanic took advantage of my son's inexpertise with cars and charged him to fix everything that 'might be wrong' with the car without figuring out what was really wrong with the car until we'd spent hundreds of dollars.\r

I've filed with both the better business bureau and my credit card company trying to get back some of the money for the dishonest repairs.
