Great for Pre-Symphony Dinner 11/11/2006

We decided to have a pre-symphony dinner at Palomino and were pleasantly surprised! The cheese fondue was an excellent appetizer and the bread supplied with the meal had a fantastic rosemary flavor, that when combined with the homemade spread composed of kalamata olives, tomatoes, feta cheese, onions and a twist of lemon, proved better than most pre-dinner bread offerings. The wine list at Palomino is ok, but pricey. We shared a plate of paella which was fantastic! Lots of seafood, lots of flavor! We even saw Drew Brees, quaterback of the N.O. Saints at the table next to us! Pros: Online Reservations, Parking Ramp attached, large menu more

great food; great service 11/10/2006

Palomino has great food and great service. my fish very well prepared. I enjoyed their wine list. Trendy but unstuffy decor. Pros: food preparation, service Cons: expensive more

Amazing and accomidating 6/12/2006

I had attended a rehearsal dinner a few weeks back at the restaurant. It was in the private dining room they have on the side of the restaurant. It was exquiste! The room was completely private and was only use by us the entire night. The bride and groom had selected three items to be chosen by their guests and the menus were printed on boards wrapped in ribbon that was the color of the wedding! It was titled with the bride and groom's name on the top. Palomino had made the entire evening and this special event in my friends life a memorable one! The service was flawless and overwhelmingly accomidating! I will definately return. Pros: Ambience and personal attention more

Awesome 4/2/2006

My girlfriend and I went last night. We were running late, but they had no problem with that. We were promptly seated at the best table in the restaurant. The server was amazing, she came back several times while we were making our selection just to discuss different menu items with us, since it was our first time. The Ultimate Lemon Drop was fabulous. I got the grilled king salmon and my girlfriend had the asiago crusted trout. We are still fighting over who had the better meal, it was the best salmon I had ever eaten Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Friendliness Cons: none found more

Great Place 9/12/2005

The food, service, and atmosphere were terrific. Palomino is a great place, one of the best in Pittsburgh! more

Very nice service 12/31/2004

The service was outstanding - everyone was very friendly. When our table was ready, they came and found us instead of giving us a buzzer, or calling our name over the speaker. We went for New Years, and they handed out lays, party noise makers, hats, etc. etc. That was really fun. There is a great view of the streets and skyscrapers of downtown Pittsburgh, too. This was a great place to eat, and a very cool bar to sit at. VERY long - plenty of seats. I had the lobster pasta, which was excellent, but the sauce was really heavy, and I could only get through half of it. My wife had the mussels and a steak, which was perfectly done. She didn't see what she wanted on the menu, but they asked what she wanted, and she got it. Great service. Pros: good parking, great service, cool atmosphere Cons: , loud more

I can not believe they are open. 12/7/2003

My wife and took me here for my birthday and the food was horrable. I ordered the pallia and it came to the table ice cold. I ate what I could and I am still paying for it two days later. I sent it back and again it was ice cold. We did not get our wine until after we were done with our appitizers. Plus $31.00 for a bottle of Chateau St. Michelle, way to much. My wife had 17 people standing around her while we were trying to eat because their back room was not ready yet. The manager could care less and we only saw our server when she brought us our food and our bill. One of the worst restraunts in Pittsburgh!!!!! Cons: Service, Wine List, Price more

Not in Pittsburgh 9/11/2003

I go to Palomino on a regular basis. I have had nothing but the best service, drinks, food, and hospitality here. This is nowhere to be found in Pittsburgh. I was reading the local paper recently and found out that they had won a recent Martini contest at a polo match in Hartwood Acres. The head-bartender, Melissa, had created this wonderful cocktail which I had the privlage of trying. The use of the mint was superb. I would recommend the Pittsburgh Palomino to everyone that I come across. Pros: Great food, Impressive Atmosphere, Attentive Service Cons: None, None, None more

Overall good 9/8/2003

I've had a lot of trouble finding a consistently good and nice restaurant in Pittsburgh. I have now gone to Palomino's 3 times and found all to be an enjoyable experience. The ambience is on the trendy side, but warm. The menu is pretty extensive, as well as the drinks and wine menu. Yes, this restaurant is definitely on the expensive side. However, the service has always been adequate, the food very good, and the overall dining experience very good as well. Other restaurants may have a more prestigious reputation, but I find that the quality of the food is often compromised. I therefore think that this restaurant is worth a try, especially for a nice occassion dinner and consistent quality. Pros: Food, Ambience Cons: Relatively expensive more

what happened to the food?! 2/5/2003

I went to Palomino shortly after it opened, and really enjoyed it. I went back last week (Jan '02) and was very disappointed. The lettuce in my salad was wilted and brown around the edges, the salad was drowned in dressing (perhaps to diguise the lettuce?) and the crab cakes were overdone (burnt on the bottom and sides) and dried out to the point of being largely inedible. Definitely not worth the money... Still loved the atmosphere, but the food was awful! more

expensive, but worth it 12/30/2002

While my wife and I were visiting from Southern Cal for x-mas, we took my inlaws here last Friday. Definitely expensive. And the staff had a lot of trouble finding the bottle of wine we ordered. However, the service was excellent otherwise. The lobster was costly ($44) but great, as were the stuffed shrimp. And at the end of the meal the manager was apologetic about the problems finding our wine bottle, and comped our desserts. Ambiance was nice. The views were better at the Le Mont the next night, but the food was not, and the service was comparable. Pros: great food, great service, good views/ambiance Cons: very expensive, trouble finding wine more

I took the Pepsi challenge. 10/27/2002

They actually seem to care about their customers. I'm a tried & true Diet Coke drinker, but they only stock Pepsi. The server actually had someone run out & get me a Diet Coke. Everyother restaurant I've ever been in said ""sorry, we only carry Pepsi."" A staff that will go out of their way to accomodate a customer - rare & impressive. By the way, the food was exceptional, the ambience upbeat & energetic, the management visable, and the drinks (beside the Coke) were creative & inspired. Will be my first choice for a long time to come. more
