Best Decision I Made... 10/1/2008

After researching many massage schools in the Boston area, I found my way to Palmer. The minute I walked into the door I knew I had found the school I wanted to attend. I will be graduating in December, but will definately be returning to take more classes. The teachers are all amazing. They are full of so much knowledge and have so much experience in the massage world that they want to pass on to you as a student. I feel that they truly want each and every student to succeed. I feel like I am part of a family at Palmer. I work full time and have been able to create my own schedule to meet my needs. Attending Parlmer has definately changed my life in such a positive way. I will be done with classes in December but will definately be returning to take more classes to enhance what I can offer . The atmosphere at Palmer is energizing and soothing all in one. I feel comfortable learning and I feel completely prepared to begin looking for a job upon completion. I also feel that I can always remain in contact with the teachers and Diane Palmer if I have any questions at all in the future. Thank you Palmer! Pros: You can make your own schedule and choose your classes, soothing and energizing atmosphere Cons: None that I can think of.... more

They understand.... 7/7/2008

I felt comfortable the moment I walked up the stairs for my first tour of the school. The relaxing inscents and calm music was a great first impression. I knew immediately that it was where I needed to be. I work full time and felt it impossible to finally go to school for something I have wanted for the past 11 years. Their schedule is so accomodating and so are the instructors. They do genuinely understand that not everyone can do this during the day and make it possible for you to achieve your goals at a realistic pace. The instructors are amazing. Their knowledge is endless and their patience is long. They all truly want you to succeed and will not give up on you. They counsell you when you are struggling and encourage you when you are almost there. I am done with the program this August, and I cannot thank them enough for letting me into their family...that is exactly what it is...Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. Pros: Amazing instructors. Thorough direction. Guidance. Schedule. Flexibilty. Cons: Sometimes classes are not run due to small class size. This is obviously not the school's fault!! more

The Ideal Massage Therapy Program 6/29/2008

When I decided that I wanted to change careers and become a massage therapist, Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork was a dream come true. I was able to take classes in the evening, which enabled me to keep my current job schedule. I was also able to become a certified massage therapist in just 2 semesters. I loved that I could pick the classes I wanted to take in order to learn the massage modalities that I thought I would enjoy and make me marketable. Palmer Institute of Masage and Bodywork was the perfect fit to study massage, because the class schedule was convenient, I could finish the program quickly and I could design my own curriculum. Pros: location, options for classes, times of the classes Cons: sometimes the class you want is not being offered more

great selection of classes to choose from! 6/26/2008

The best thing about Palmer is that you can create your own program. Other schools make you take the same classes as everyone else, but Palmer lets you choose the classes that interest you. I loved the sports massage and deep tissue classes but the hot stones was fun too!! I am looking forward to taking the Prenatal class, so i can really have a specialzied modaility to offer my clients that will help me stand out in the massage therapy industry. There are so many great electives to choose from that even when i graduate this semster, i will want to come back and take more classes to add to the modalities i can offer my clients. I highly reccomend Palmer to anyone interested in massage and bodywork. Pros: choosing your own classes more

Got a great job because I'm a Palmer Graduate! 6/23/2008

After certification I went to a high paying top rated massage studio in Boston. I was very impressed with the serene yet professional setting and felt that it was a good fit for me. The mananger was impressed that I was a Palmer graduate and wanted me to give him a massage before he made a decision as to whether or not he would hire me. That was great for me because he was so impressed with my work that he hired me on the spot, giving me the same cut 50/50 as he was giving the senior licensed massage therapists. I thank you everyone at Palmer very much, they're the best by far. I loved being a Palmer student and miss not being there. Pros: flexable scheduling, low cost, state of the art education Cons: no cons more

The best instructors are a Palmer!!! 6/23/2008

Palmer Institute has some of the most amazing and wonderful instructors. They all have their own practices as successful massage therapists and have such a passion for teaching. They always make sure you are understanding the work you are being taught - whether it is a hands-on bodywork class (most of them are!) or an anatomy class - they are always there for you!! You actually look forward to going to school to see them and find out what you will learn that day! All the different classes they offer are amazing and teach you so many different modalities (and you can choose the ones you WANT to take!!) Also, the schedule is so flexible compared to other schools that it made my decision to go to Palmer easy! Everyone who has an interest in bodywork should go to Palmer - you will not be disappointed!! Pros: flexible scheduling, create your own individual program, great teachers! more

Palmer Institute of Massage & Bodywork 5/3/2008

At Palmer the needs and goals of the students are not automatically "sidelined" to fit an unbendable academic system. Palmer tries to accommodate the students? needs and interests without compromising the integrity of its educational mission. Palmer has a wide range of curriculum and teaching styles that empowers graduates to be able follow the career path that suits them best, unlike so many massage schools that mold each and every student to "follow the crowd." The Palmer Institute is a "custom fit" educational experience versus a "one size fits all" vocational tech. Pros: I feel very happy to be at Palmer more

Palmer Institute of Massage & Bodywork 5/3/2008

If not for The Palmer Institute I would have abandoned my dream of becoming a Massage Therapist. I started my massage education at a very well known massage school. At first I was very excited and looked forward to everyday of class. After a few months my excitement started to fade. The school I was attending treated every student as if they were clones. They wanted to turn out "cookie cutter" massage therapists. There was no consideration for the career path that each student was planning on pursuing. Soon, I found I was forcing myself to go to each class. I was quickly loosing my love for massage. Then I found The Palmer Institute of Massage and Bodywork. Once I met Diane I knew I was in the right school. We talked about what I wanted to do and together we choose the classes that would give me the education and training I needed to pursue the career path I wanted to follow. The teachers and staff at The Palmer Institute are the best available. I quickly regained my love for massage and the employment opportunities are better than I dreamed they would be. Pros: best of boston Cons: none more

Palmer Institute of Massage & Bodywork 5/3/2008

I thought that making the decision to go back to school in my 30's was a big one?until I had to decide which school! So I researched schools one by one throughout the country. Since I live in Oregon and Palmer Institute is in Massachusetts everyone asked me why I didn't enroll in a massage school closer to home. The reason I chose to travel 3000 miles to attend Palmer Institute of Massage & Bodywork, which clearly was a great distance, was because Palmer is the Harvard of Massage Schools. Why would I go to a local community college when I can go to Harvard? Pros: great school, great educators more

Wonderful Experience 4/8/2007

Palmer Institute is a great school. I decided to attend after a long search and after visiting all the other schools in the Boston area. Energetically it just felt right to me. It has the right balance between clinical, practical and intuitive training. I went in hoping to become a great massage therapist and came out with my life totally changed. I got a top-notch education, a new perspective on life and a sense of possibility and potential about my purpose on this planet. Palmer is one in a million. I highly recommend it to anyone embarking on a career in the healing professions. Pros: Instructors are awesome Cons: none more

Palmer is the best massage school in all of Boston 4/3/2007

I live in Cambridge and almost chose one of the well known massage schools in the Boston Metro area. Fortunately, I expanded my search and found Palmer up in Salem. I'm really glad I did. Compared to the other schools, Palmer feels warm and inviting. Their program is flexible and is designed to help you graduate with the most classes and best education in the shortest amount of time. Most important to me was their willingness to help me remove obstacles that were getting in the way of my getting an education. I am currently a student and am very happy with the choice I made. I wouldn't trade Palmer for anywhere else in Boston. Pros: Small class size, helpful staff, wonderful teachers more

Best Massage School 4/2/2007

I graduated from Palmer in 2005 and have been working steadily as a Massage Therapist ever since. From the moment I walked through the front door, I loved my experience there. The courses were excellent and the teachers were awesome. The office staff was very supportive and helpful. This is a school full of very nurturing people and that's exactly what I needed. I'm so thankful to have found Palmer and couldn't have asked for a more positive experience. Pros: Great courses, flexible scheduling, supportive staff Cons: none more

Best Massage and Bodywork School in Massachusetts!! 3/29/2007

Attending Palmer Institute was one of the best decisions I've ever made! In 2003 I decided to change my life and become a Massage Therapist. I researched different schools in the Boston area and decided on Palmer because the atomosphere was so warm and welcoming. The education I received was exceptional. Classes were thorough and the teachers were completely dedicated to their students. From the moment I arrived, to the moment I graduated, I felt nurtured, supported and as if I mattered. I couldn't have asked for more. For anyone thinking of a career in Massage Therapy, I highly recommend Palmer Institute. You won't be disappointed. Pros: Flexible Course Schedule with lots of Electives Cons: none more
