Like most community colleges, PBCC offers AA and AS degrees. For those not in the know, both are two year degrees, but AA degrees transfer to an accredited four-year university (here in FL guaranteed admission to a FL state university) and AS degrees are complete programs, usually in a technical field, like dental hygenist.
I opted for the AA degree and transferred to a four-year ( http://www.judysbook.com/members/11971/posts/2006/9/462499/ ). By doing so I saved a lot of money on tuition (including housing because I commuted) and even was awarded a transfer scholarship from one of the student organizations I was active with, which paid for tuition (I just had to pay for books).
Most instructors I had were really helpful and wanted you to succeed and were available during posted office hours. Of course there were some that felt that they were doing *us* a favour by taking their class and had a pickle up their behind. But you'll get that anywhere you go, I'm pretty sure.
I joined several student organizations, held office in those organizations, and had a great time. Bonus was when they awarded me a plaque and cash for being active at the end of the semester. I wouldn't change my course of education for anything.
