About a year ago I dropped a pre-paid UPS package off at this Pak Mail store that was never received by UPS. So sometime between me dropping off the the package and UPS picking it up it was lost, stolen, misplaced, thrown away, whatever - it didn't get to UPS. Fortunately the company I was returning the package to was very cool about what happened and I wasn't charged for the package being lost.
I recently needed to drop off a pre-paid UPS package again, and this Pak Mail was the closest place to my house so I thought I would give them another shot. As I was leaving my package I asked the person working behind the counter (who happened to be the owner) if I could have some sort of receipt just stating that I dropped the package off. She told me no, they didn't do that there. I proceeded to inform her that a package of mine had been lost there about a year ago, so a receipt of drop off would make me feel better. She then marched over to me, shoved my package back in my arms, and told me that there was ""no way a package I dropped off was lost"", that ""I was mistaken"" about that incident occurring, and that I ""do business somewhere else"".
I found this display of customer service rather appalling. I asked if she was calling me a liar, and again her response was (in the most smug tone) that ""I was mistaken, we don't lose packages"". I then asked to speak to her manager, and she proudly informed me that she was the owner. That was it, as I was leaving I told her I was going to let everyone know what a horrible business she was running and never to come there. At this point she came running after me, demanding to show me where the packages are left for UPS and demanding me to answer her question of what I think happened to my package. I told her I didn't care, I just knew that it was lost. She then threatened to call the police because I needed to make a police report on my missing package. I had nothing more to say to this fool and walked out the door.
When I left I called the corporate office of Pak Mail to let them know what was going on at this franchise. I mean, who knows how many packages have been lost at this place, the owner obviously doesn't report them. Also, the corporate office told me that customers are entitled to a drop off receipt if they request one.
Bottom line is go somewhere else. Packages aren't safe here, and if yours gets lost the freak owner will just yell at you and call you a liar. I have since found a UPS store just up the street at 12 mile and Woodward. They are very polite and will give you drop off conformation with no problem. Save yourself the hassle and skip Pak Mail.
