Painted Penguin the

This is a huge do-it-yourself store that is great for young children. First you get to pick out a ceramic figure and then you get to paint it and design it in any way you want. There are a lot of things you can do - paint it, dress it, or decorate it. I think it is a great activity for kids and a really unique option for a birthday party or a holiday party. This store is huge and they have plenty of space to accomodate a big party. I think its a good idea for a field trip sort of thing too. more

I brought my daughter here with some friends for her birthday. Unlike other paint-your-own ceramics places where you pay a lot of money and then have to wait days for it to be fired, this place offers reasonably priced pieces that you get to take home with you that day. You get to pick out your piece, pay for it and then get to choose 6 dfifferent colors of paint. There is a lot of space to spread out and paint on paper covered tables. They provide the brushes, palettes, etc. When you are done you dry your piece under the hair dryers and then bring it to be sprayed with a shiny finish. If you'd like you can get glitter for free. It takes all in all about 5-7 minutes for the finish to dry and then you can take it home. They have a TV/VCR so your kids can listen/watch movies while they paint. There is a big selection of pieces to choose from ranging from inexpensive to quite expensive. I think this is a great activity for the entire family and would recommend it to anyone. more
