Best

Great first date place! Pretty interior and yummy organics. Even a side room with a love seat. The bar is tremendous and fresh, real juice and real mint in the mojitos. It's just ...

Worst

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place was actually pretty nice when it first opened. I had friends who would go there to study, enjoyed the outdoor seating on summer nights....

unfriendly staff, fake 10/18/2008

If I could give 0 stars I would. This place was actually pretty nice when it first opened. I had friends who would go there to study, enjoyed the outdoor seating on summer nights. The "reopen" has been entirely disappointing under new ownership. The staff is completely unfriendly and unhelpful. I seriously doubt I will try to go back. The menu is actually a bit pretentious and leaves one wondering whether this is a coffee shop or an "organic bistro" or a liquor store. Sticking with a theme might be a good idea and might actually provide some reasonably priced foods and drinks that GO TOGETHER. When I asked about the "house-made" desserts, there was actually no chef or even cook. Oh, and the awards listed on the website...are from the original padgett. more

rude 7/1/2008

the staff is unfriendly and unwelcoming, like youre inconveniencing them by being there. on top of that, you get to pay sky-high prices. the atmosphere is kind of nice, but theyre snobby and too expensive. more

Classy and tasty 9/20/2006

Great first date place! Pretty interior and yummy organics. Even a side room with a love seat. The bar is tremendous and fresh, real juice and real mint in the mojitos. It's just better quality and tastier. And it's the best place to get breakfast all day. Not just eggs but torture-free eggs and fair trade coffee. Every time I go in the menu has something new. It's a cool little place. And the coffee's good too. Pros: a responsible business plan that loves our planet more

Smiley Face 9/9/2006

They have over a dozen vodkas from around the world. They serve authentic Sidecars and Negronis. That makes me smile. Pros: lovely interior, clean restroom more

Lower East Side 9/8/2006

Thank you for setting up shop in Carrboro's "Lower East Side". Your presence (and success) is appreciated. Keep it up. more

2nd worst 8/30/2006

i just needed to take a break at work and didn't want to be gone long so i made my first (and last) trip to repugnant station. i know that i once had a worse coffee drink, so this would have to be the second worst coffee drink i have ever had. i ordered and iced latte, which tastes like a glass of cold milk with a funny aftertaste. on a side note, the teenie-tiny cookie that i had was as mediocre as it was small. on a happy note, the inside is decorated very nicely (note my subtle sarcasm). i'd rather drink tap water thank you very much. Pros: can't think of any....don't care for causes (organic, etc.) as marketing tools Cons: standard interior w/ no character, too many products means not particularly good at any one, especially the coffee more

Great spot for coffee, crepes and a lot more 8/21/2006

Just a wonderful place - drop by for coffee - they take it seriously but only just enough. Wonderful attitude and personality to the place and solid staff. Perfect addition to Carrboro. Pros: good coffee, ever expanding menu, great location Cons: not much parking more

Pretty Fancy 5/6/2006

Just had a flute of Prosecco with Grangala liqueur (Grand Illusion) and a second with Chambord (Framboise). I'm feeling pretty fancy for having spent only $10 + tip - cool place. p.s. Padgett Station serves Prosecco by the glass on Sundays only. Pros: Grand Illusion, Framboise, Service more

Welcome 1/11/2006

Padgett Station is a welcome addition to the town of Carrboro. Love the Martinis. Keep up the good work. Pros: Coffee, Irish Coffee, Martinis more

I enjoy the tea at Padgett Station 8/8/2005

I enjoy the tea at Padgett Station. The quality and presentation is superb. more

Lhassi and Chai 8/8/2005

I am excited that Padgett Station offers lhassi and home made chai. I recommend the mango lhassi and the blended chai. more

excellent addition 7/31/2005

the other reviewer clamoring for flavored coffees - please, no - did not experience Padgett Station for what it is - a nice cafe, offering high quality teas and coffees in a nice setting. The crumpet menu is also something to boast about, as it sets this cafe apart from others. The ambience is calm and pleasant, and the staff friendly and engaging. A welcome addition to the local landscape, and thankfully devoid of flavored coffee. more

Excellent Espresso 7/29/2005

Whether or not you are impressed by the Organic/Fair Trade/Shade Grown nature of Padgett Station's products you will be impressed by their espresso. They offer an Italian espresso (they call it Forte), an American espresso (they call it Dolce), and a decaf espresso. I regularly order a double shot of Dolce. When I want more caffeine I order the Forte. At night I order the decaf. As you may have deduced I go to Padgett Station quite frequently. Pros: espresso, espresso, espresso more

Organic and Decadent 7/28/2005

Upon the recommendation of a friend, I went to Padgett Station last night. The frozen coffee drinks are the best - organic and decadent. I had a mint patty (mocha with mint). My date had a Black Forest (mocha with raspberry). Of course we shared. I have spent time in London and I can say that Padgett Station's homemade lemon curd on a crumpet is authentic (as well as delicious). Service was fast and friendly. more

Another Clone 7/27/2005

Just what the Triangle Area DIDN'T need... another run of the mill coffee house full of politically correct coffees. Why doesn't someone open something DIFFERENT for a change? How about a unique, fun place. Maybe one that specializes in flavored coffees? If we get one more Padgett Station type place in this area we're all going to O.D. more

Their service sets them apart 6/29/2005

As a devoted Open Eye Cafe visitor (and coffee snob), I originally scoffed at the upscale-ish Padgett Station being added to the coffeshop-saturated Chapel Hill area. The first week I was a convert. Their coffee is top-notch, and the service is outstanding, something you won't find in the coffeehouses in this area. They serve a wide variety of organic and fair trade items, including wines, cheeses, and Belgian chocolates, and they donate a portion of their profits to worthy causes. It is probably due to the above items that they are slightly more expensive than other coffehouses around town, but they are well worth the minor cost. Pros: Service, Espresso blends, Outside seating Cons: Parking, Slightly higher cost more
