The Scene
Seabrook's hidden gem for fresh seafood and cold beer, without the hustle and noise of the nearby corporate-owned and -operated Kemah Boardwalk. Upstairs, locals congregate at the bar, watching sports and sipping bloody marys with house-made pepper vodka. Tables on the outside decks go fast on sunny days as folks linger for fresh breezes, lively conversation and boat watching. The waitstaff (mostly young folks from the area) is friendly and efficient.
The Food
Expect a solid menu of fried seafood and Cajun dishes. Start with the creamy Creole crab dip served with tortilla chips. Seasonal seafood selections include fresh fish, shrimp, blue crabs and live crawfish, served steaming hot and spiced to perfection. Also popular are the calamari, crabcakes and the shrimp sampler platter, with bacon-wrapped, boiled, fried, grilled and stuffed varieties. Burgers and po-boys round out the offerings. Opt for the can't-miss crispy onion rings on the side.
