The main thing I don't like about Outpatient Behavorial Medicine of Norman Regional is that they do not have a psychiatrist available to prescribe medication. This causes a problem with many insurance companies, as they only allow one facility for your mental health issues. So, you are left to decide whether to pay out of your pocket to see a psychiatrist, or have your primary care physician presribe these medications. From my experience, most primary care physicians do not like to prescribe medications for depression, etc., and they also lack the knowledge that psychiatrists have, in helping patients with mental health issues.
I believe there is only one counselor, currently, with their facility. She has a lot of training, but not all people would like working with her. She comes across as very harsh and abrasive. This could be good, if you want someone who is really going to push you to grow and learn, but when you have self esteem issues, sometimes this isn't the best approach. It would really depend on what type of counselor you are looking for and comfortable with.
My main reason for not recommending them, however, is because of the lack of a psychiatrist on staff. I feel that it is a necessity if you are suffering from a chronic mental health issue.
