Okay food 2/3/2009

This is much like an average Italian restaurant that tastes like the ""homemade"" sauces are from a bottle. They don't seem very fresh and the flavors don't vary from each dish which isn't good. I had lasagna, my husband had pizza and my father had manicotti. The red sauce on each was okay and tasted the same even though each dish is totally different. I wouldn't go back. Not a bad price, but not good enough food. Cute location. The waiter was very nice and attentive and so was the manager/owner. They are very kind just need to make their food more flavorful and tasty. Pros: Service Cons: Food more

The Real Deal 11/3/2007

I enjoy Italian food and have eaten at great Italian restaurants from New York to San Francisco. Ottavio?s is terrific, better than some highly-recommended places in much larger cities. The staff is friendly and helpful and the food has always been great. My wife and I have eaten there 15-20 times and neither of us has ever had anything but an excellent meal.\r \r If you don?t want to hear Happy Birthday in Italian, don?t let it slip that it is your birthday. The restaurant has an accordion player and often has vocal performance majors from BYU singing opera selections on the weekends.\r Cons: Reservations are a good idea on weekends. more

A Lot Like the Olive Garden 4/26/2007

This is a pretty restaurant that makes u think that the food is home made and authentic, but the food and the sauces taste pretty much like the Olive Garden. Not bad, but not great. We had a pizza from the oven and it was the best thing ordered. The servers were nice and the portions were generous. The manager was really attentive and told us about desserts. They were good. more

My Favorite Italian 7/23/2006

I've been eating at Ottavio's since they opened, and can say without reservation that it is one of my all-time favorite places to eat. The environment is comfortable, the decor is charming, the service is friendly and relaxed, portions are very generous, and the food is incredible. It's hard to go wrong on the menu, but if you like things a little spicy, I recommend the Rigatoni fra Diavolo. Wickedly delicious. They've also got a live accordion player/singer on weekend evenings, which for some diners may dramatically enhance the ambience. Pros: Food, Fra Diavolo, Foccacia more

Wow 5/31/2006

If you are looking for true Italian here it is. Good food, good wine, and good atmosphere. Try the choclate cake! To die for. Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Parking more

disapointing 3/12/2006

I went to Ottavio's with great expectations. What I recieved was anything but great. I ordered minestrone soup with my chicken florentine. There was a thick layer of grease floating on top and not a whole lot else in the cup of soup. I would have said something to the waiter but he never checked on us until he brought our entre. The Chicken Florentine was good but looked like it was plated in a high school cafeteria. The plate was stained and they did not even wipe up where the sauce had dripped onto the side. The atmosphere was not that great either. It was very noisy and disney songs on the accordion is not what I want to listen to while out with my husband. On the good side the bread they served was excellent. Pros: bread Cons: music/noise, soup, plating more

Fantastico! 12/1/2005

I absolutely abhore Italian food, but went to Ottavio's at the request of my boyfriend. I'm so glad that I did. Everything was perfect from the moment we walked in. We were seated in less than 5 minutes, the waitstaff was impeccable, the food was amazing, and the atmosphere was the stuff dreams are made of. I've never had a more pleasant dining experience and would gladly go back to Ottavio's whenever I got the chance! I recommend the spaghetti marinara or ravioli pescatora for dinner, the tiramisu for dessert, and the sangria to top it all off.... Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Service Cons: They're not in Denver more

MANGIARE!!! 10/14/2005

Ottavio's Ristorante Italina is simply the finest Italina Restaurant in Utah and the surrounding states. The food is delicious, authentic, and mouthwatering! Vic, the owner is so accessable and friendly. His staff is warm and sincere. Being there is like being a guest in their home. Eating there is always a highlight of each of our trips. From Pennsylvania, Tennessee and Boise, Idaho when we assemble in Utah we meet and eat at Ottavio's and are always greeted like old friends from Italy. From appetizers to deserts, from ambiance to charming service, there is nothing better. We highly recommend an Ottavio's experience. Pros: Atmosphere, Service, Spectacular food more

Mama Mia! 3/13/2005

Ottavio's is the best Italian Restaurant in Utah. I'm from New York and grew up On good Italian food and thought I would never find it here. What a wonderful surpize! From the moment you walk in the door and are greeted warmly by Vic, the very handsome Italian gentlemen that owns the restaurant, to the last spoonful of Zabione, you're in heaven! The aromas, sounds, and scenery are all wonderful. Best eggplant parmesan I have ever eaten! The sauces are made fresh each day and are robust yet not overpowering. The pizza is excellent. Week ends there is a strolling accordianist who sometimes sings. If you are lucky, there will also be a very talented singer or two that will sing a beautiful aria from an Opera. I could say more, but I think I will just drive to Provo for my favorite Italian meal! Pros: food, service, ambience more

Gnocchi & Tiramisu YUMMY! 2/21/2004

You can't beat the atmosphere and food at Ottavio's. I've been going since the day they opened and the food has always been excellent. The only con is the parking, but it won't hurt anyone to walk a block or two down Center Street's beautiful tree lined streets. Pros: Delicious food, Huge servings, Price more

Sweet service, Yummy Food 10/3/2002

Ottavio's great service is barely overshadowed by their phenominal food. If you want real italian- the kind your mouth waters for . . . you want Ottavio's! more

Great Italian Food! 10/1/2002

If you're looking for authentic Italian food, Ottavio's is the place to go. Best gnocchi, caprese, calzoni, and pesto sauces you'll find in the area. Why go to Tucci's when you can go to Ottavio's?! Pros: authentic food, location more

When in Rome... 8/1/2002

Ottavio's ambience is so thick you can cut it with a (butter) knife! From the moment you walk through the doors, you are transported to the side streets of Rome. Not only is the cuisine divine, but your other senses are embraced as well. Some nights you are lucky enough to be treated to the operatic talents of the owner, other times it is a strolling minstrel performing your requests and other ethnic favorites on his accordion. more

Truely authentic! 7/29/2002

I loved the atmosphere when I first stepped inside the restaurant and the food did not disappoint me at all. The flavors were intertwined so well and the portions were generous to say the least. The buffet is a great alternative if you haven't eaten there before because you can sample so many different items. The owners, who I understand are brothers from Italy make their way to all the tables to greet their customers and make them feel welcome. If I am in Provo, I drop by Octtavio's. more
