Otani's is great! the food is wonderful the service and the entire dining experience all together. also the chefs are very ncie and love to talk and make you feel comfortable.

Theie half price night are not half ass 3/15/2011

Theie half price night are not half ass, like some places in Beachwood. The hibachi is very good for hibachi, fresh and plentiful. My one criticism would that is can be to greasy. So I give them 4.5 stars for constancy, good service and a cool vibe. more

The sushi here is very good 3/10/2011

The sushi here is very good in my opinion. The style is a a lot of fish and a good amount of sushi rice, but not to much. The spicy sauce seems to Japanese Mayo and some hot sauce or red pepper. It works. more

We both ordered chicken, shrimp and beef. 3/7/2011

Went here for dinner with my dad. It was his choice, I was trying to push Jersey Mikes but he wanted Otani! Otani it was. Started out with a fresh salmon and avocado roll. It was perfect! We both ordered chicken, shrimp and beef. more

The choice of where to sit is the first choice of many. Then the drink (great sake), sushi, appetizers, then finally the main dish, and don't for get the mochi to end the eveing. The staff is wonderful, the sushi chefs were funny and chatted. They were able to answer all my questions, and make sure everything was perfect. Yes sometimes you have to wait, but you know what it is worth it! I take the 2 hour trip from Toledo about once every 45 days or so just to have their food! more

Fun atmosphere, Awesome food, and great service....what's not to love?! We've gone to Otani's with groups and as a couple. It is perfect for a fun night out or a romantic dinner alone...We drive from Toledo for this one-of-a-kind meal! more

Otani's is the place to go, no where else! 12/29/2010

I've been to this place over 10 times, since I visit from NH, while my bf and his mom have been going there for at least 15 years. They've tried all the other places, but none measure up to Otani's! The people there are sweetest, and the food is absolutly amazing! You can't get enough of the sushi, it makes you crave more. The Habachi show is great and fun for everyone! There is a reason Otani's got an award - in the Winner Circle of best place in Cleveland for 2005! If you're craving Sushi or Japanese Cuisine - Otani's is the place to go, no where else! more

This place is one of the best sushi places in Cleveland! No glitzy metrosexual atmosphere or sky high prices, but the food is good and the service is friendly, which is why you would go to a restaurant in the first place! more

I've been here several times with my husband and even took my mom out to dinner here. I love their Hibachi dinner! It is so delicious, especially the rice with horseradish sauce. I also love their mango ice cream filled mochi balls and green tea ice cream! I've been to other Japanese restaurants, but this is by far the best I've had. My husband whom was in the military and served 6+ months in Japan says that the food here is authentic Japanese food. He says it taste just like he remembered in Japan. They have you sit around a table and cook in front of you, including an entertaining display of tricks with the fire and while cooking. You won't be bored here while eating. I've also never been to Otani and had any other race other than Japanese cook my dinner, which is also a definite plus! more

My husband adores sushi, I abhor it. Otani is the perfect solution. The restaurant has four dining areas: a regular table and chairs section, a sushi bar, a traditional area (with cushions and low tables instead of chairs), and a hibachi area. The service was friendly and polite.I had hibachi - steak in a black pepper and teriyaki sauce. It came with a choice of mushroom or miso soup, garden salad with a ginger dressing, fried or boiled rice, and a bowl of bean sprouts to go along with the beef. The mushroom soup was simple - but exquisitely flavored. The fried rice was not over greasy or flavored - a perfect combination with the spicy beef dish.  The star was the plum wine - dense and sweet. It went perfectly with the rich steak. Hubby's sushi was fresh and clean. Served over sticky rice and a touch of wasabi, it looked almost tasty (except for the raw fish part, but good for those folks who actually do like it). Definitely recommended. I will go back. more

VERY good FOOD 10/14/2010

I've had Hibachi in Boston, Denver, Phoenix and Cleveland.  Otani can hold it's own.  The wait can be very long, get here early. Among the standouts here are the salad dressing and sauces for the meats. For Hibachi the prices are fair and if you're going to spring for Hibachi - make it Otani. You'll get a decent show and very good food. Great place for groups. If you come with kids ask for a table with other kids if possible and ask for a chef that has flourish. Of course, don't come with kids until they can control themselves in a manner befitting a nice restaurant. more
