Based on the location, the bad name, and the tacky facade, I wasn't expecting much. But the decor is pretty nice, and the service was very attentive. The menu is not very imaginitive. Appetizers are basic bar fare (fried calamari, spinach dip, etc.), but what we had was pretty good. We had the chicken and filet after. Both were decent, although the steamed veggies were not very hot. The owner came by a few times and told us that our last round was on the house, but everything ended up being on the bill. Kind of a bummer, but oh well.
There was a live band. We were eating late and should have been more tolerant of the noise. But despite the fact that the lead singer/guitarist was an incredible talent, the late 90s sensi-rock (DMB, Blues Traveler) was a bit much.
Overall, it is one of the better spots on Pico west of the 10. We'll go back, but mostly out of necessity.
Pros: solid food and service, for a bar
Cons: loud average music
