This receives one star because its the lowest I can do. It wouldn't get any if that was an option. I never write reviews, but I was so appalled by the service we received while living at the Onyx, I had to say something. If I keep just one person from moving in there, I'll feel like I've accomplished something!
We were shown an apartment last May and we loved it. We were told that while they didn't have anything exactly like it available at the time, they did have one that was almost exactly the same. They showed us where it was in the complex. Then, every time we called to find out about viewing it, we were told it was being cleaned. In a pinch to get out of our other place, we signed a lease and were given keys the day we moved in. The apartment was DISGUSTING. The carpet was old, everything was damp, and it was unpainted. There was mold in the windowsills, and the whole apartment was just plain dark and ""icky.""
We expressed our concerns and were treated like crap by the ladies in the office. For the entire term of our lease, we had at least 3 visits from maintenance a month because everything was so old and nasty. And every single time, we were treated like it was our fault. No apologies from them, no offers to try and make our renting experience a little more pleasant. They made us feel like crap, and everything they said was said in a condescending tone. They are completely unprofessional, and vengeful! I called a week before we were set to move out, and let them know that my closet door had fallen. For the 8th time. I was told that maybe I should be more gentle with it, and not let my son play with it. I informed them that my son is not interested in playing with doors, and that the tracking had been off since we moved in. I said it needed to be fixed-properly- before someone got hurt. In retaliation- the office manager-Laura Humphries- sent me an eviction notice saying that we were not in compliance with our rental agreement because of something that was on our porch. It had been there for a year, and nothing had been said until I talked to Laura exactly the way she talks to residents. This place is awful. Laura is the WORST POSSIBLE manager, and if you move to the Onyx, you'll only wind up frustrated and disgusted.
We received our move out inspection 2 weeks after leaving, and they had charged us 1100 dollars. Like I said, the apartment was in BAD shape when we moved in, nasty carpet, and everything was old. They charged us to replace the carpet, as well as a counter and the bathroom floor. NONE of which we had anything to do with. Please, please, stay away from the Onyx and Laura!
