Any company that won't itemize -- show parts and labor costs -- has got problems to start off with. This used to be Scott's AC but the name change and I wonder why. The prices are very high and this is masked by what they call their a la cart pricing. That's an excuse to pad wherever they can. This is based on two service calls just shy of two months apart: In the first, my condenser's contact was burned out or not working. It took less than five minutes to replace. The repairman tried to sell me a thermostat also, even though it is about six years old and works fine. I explained to him it was a bit loose from the wall because the previous installer used masonry screws instead of the kind for the drywall. Cost $184. That repairman also said my AC was on its way out and I got the impression he really wanted to sell a new one. He never mentioned needing a DRC cap. Failing to inform or assess almost was sure to cause problems down the road, and it did. Less than two months later I needed a new DRC cap. I asked the next repairman why didn't the first one say something about this rather than the thermostat? He charged $341 for a DRC cap, and then wanted the same for a "start kit" -- not even a discount for getting essentially a duplicate item. These people have no conscience. I could not afford the start kit. My neighbor did price them for a Trane unit and it cost about $40. So all the $300 was for labor? Wow. It took him about ten minutes if that. I spoke with Scott, who I presume is the owner. He said I was lucky they didn't charge me a service call. I told him that at those prices, I assume the service fee is built in. He said our prices aren't for everyone -- how arrogant. I wonder why they changed their name. Why won't they itemize? Why charge so much? They have special "club" pricing but either way you are being overcharged. Find someone else who is honest. more
