The first visit was great up until we ordered. After that, we never saw the waitress again. I believe the owner took over from there. He brought the food out to us & helped us from then on, even though we had to cart ourselves up to the register to pay our bill, which was expressed verbally.
My second visit was solo. I decided it was time to satisfy my burger craving. I sat at the bar this time. The lady working it was very friendly. I got my order in quick & was served up just as quickly. The burger & glass of wine were great.
Heres the fun part. The waitress comes up & tells me it will be $16. This is for a burger at $7.95 & glass of house red wine (Im unsure of the price of the wine, but stunned that itd be $8). I give her a coupon for 20% off of the entire bill. She asked what she should do with it. Im stunned & dont reply. Then she gives me a price of $14. So, I ask to have the bill on paper. Apparently, there isnt a working cash register that works for her. She tells me its going to be a while. Now, I feel like a complete a** for just asking for a bill. And, I get the feeling patrons around me feel sorry for her because apparently shes had a bad day. Im sorry, my day wasnt great either, thats why I wanted to go out for a great dinner & relax. Alas, she brings me a bill that has amounts scratched on it (still no price on the wine). After I ask again why its so much, she says Im not trying to rip you off I tell her,Its not that I think you are ripping me off, I just dont think its too much to ask to get a bill for my dinner. Frustrated, I go ahead & pay $14 plus tip (yes, I gave her a tip). Im still not sure how that price came about, but I am tired of feeling foolish. Should I feel foolish?? What's wrong w/ wanting a bill?
