It was a sad day to have to put your dog down but the doctor and staff were the best and most caring group I have ever experienced. That is from me and my children. They love getting treats for them when they take the dog to the vet. more

Don't listen to the bad reviews!Dr. Hicks is the best vet I have ever known.We had to put our dog down a couple of years ago, our dog had a stroke. So we loaded him into the back of the truck and hauled him over to O.T.A.H. Within seconds Dr. Hicks came outside and examined our dog. He said "" I'm not going to move him, he's already in enough pain. I'm just going to uthinize him right here."" Within days of our dogs death, Dr. Hicks staff sent us a postcard saying how sorry they were for our loss. If that's not the best vet I don't know who is. more

Wonderful Dr, staff and clinic. They have reasonable fees and care about the animals. Staff is always helpful and will find ways to fit you in. The Dr and his techs are kind and knowledgable. more

I am so sorry to hear other people had a bad experience with this clinic. I take my dogs to Dr Hicks, he has been nothing but helpful, caring and informative. He is a ""no frills"" type of vet. He will NOT offer you services, treatment, surgery that your dog DOES NOT need. The clinic is clean, well maintained and has a wonderful sitting area! Every time I have had an issue I have called Dr Hicks, he never hesitated to call me back and does not demand the dogs to be seen yet again in the clinic for extra fees etc. The staff has always been so helpful; they listen to your needs and really take their time with you. The care I have gotten for my dogs has been A+ all the way. My dogs are healthy and I know when they sick I can count on Dr Hicks. I highly recommend dr Hicks from old town animal hospital. more

I have gotten top service from this clinic. Dr is always available to his patients. His very practical and honest with all your pet issues. I take our dogs to him and we are happy with his service. The staff is also great. At times there is a wait but that is because this office is busy and he takes time to answer your questions and concerns. more

I moved to Katy a few years ago and started using Old Town Animal Hospital for my 2 dogs and have been a loyal customer ever since. My first visit was on a Wednesday, when they offer 25% off vaccines. The office was very busy and there was a bit of a wait, but Dr. Hicks still took the time to treat me and my pets with care and respect. Since then, I try and schedule my appointments on days other than Wednesday because I don't mind paying a little more to not have to wait, especially since Old Town Animal Hospital has the lowest prices I have found. I am very happy with the service and care I have received over the years. more

After 4 visits and med's each time I went to another clinic,. This vet diagnosed my cat in thirty seconds and brought pictures from veterinary books ...gave my cat a cortisone shot and we were done. I wasted alot of time and money...thinking I was able to get a first visit free,. Pros: First visit is free... Cons: You will need many visits to maybe figure out what is going more

I hope these posts can save people/pets from going through these nightmares. I was visiting my sister and boarded my 6 month old Golden here for 3 nights. After the 3rd night, we called to see if the dogs were ready for us to pick up. Dr. Hicks got on the phone and told me that my puppy had really bad loose stools Friday, and this morning they noticed he had been scratching himself and they started him on antibiotics. When I picked him up, he was a different dog. He looked like a weak, skinny stray. His neck and elbow were bleeding and oozing. He was so weak, I can't imagine what he had gone through. I took him to another vet the next day when he was worse. They had to sedate him and shave the areas. It was a bad staph infection that had spread to his chest and under his arm. I had to pay $565 to this vet (Dr. Lee, who was very thorough, probably too thorough, but at this point I was so scared, I just wanted my puppy to be okay)to save my dog. He said he had been ignored/neglected and I was lucky flies/maggots did not get to him. I do not understand why this ""Dr."" Hicks did not try to call me or my sister at all. She boarded her puppy there also and he also got staph, just not as bad. After reading these, I guess I am lucky my Cody is alive. I am filing a complaint with the state. Dr. Hicks charged me for the stay, and was very cold and unremorseful on the phone and in person. Pros: free ice cream, cute building Cons: staph in boarding facility more

Dr. Hicks has been my pets vet for many years he was great and very cheap prices compared to other vets I have gone to. His techs were very nice as well, I have nothing bad to say about Dr. Hicks and his staff. Pros: Sweetest Doctor more

Took my dog into get spayed. Did not get to take her home. My dog died under Vet Hicks care. When i asked what went wrong Vet Hicks response was pretty much stuff happens. No apology or anything. I would not trust Vet Hicks with a goldfish. I regret my decision to use Vet Hicks every day. He stole a family member from me. Pros: dunno Cons: dog passed away in his care more

I took my cat there because she had an awful cough, that she caught at fix houston clinic while being spayed, so they recomend this clinic old town animal hospital, The vet give us some antibiotics that didn't work at all for 2 weeks, and we went back there because she developed a rash all over her head and belly.. he give us more antibiotics that didn't work again! she got worst, she lose her hair on the head and constantly scrating and bleeding! is so sad.. that from a cough she is this sick right now.. we had spent a lot of money and there they were just guessing what to give her. I don't recomment this place to anybody. more

They are very mean!i took my miniature ratt terrier there to get surgery and she bit the man because she was afraid and the man called animal control on her and she had to stay at a kennel for 10 days and i had to pay 500 dollars for her to stay there and my dog doesnt have rabies she was even tested! Cons: dont really care about your pets, calls animal control to come take your pet if your dog bites them more

When I first went to Dr. Hicks office in Katy, it was for an emergency. My puppy had been bitten by one of the dogs in the backyard, I'm thinking domination establishment, and his little face started to swell. I looked all through the phone books and called numerous clinics, none of them could take him until the next or two days. And these were emergency clinics! Thank goodness for Dr. Hicks and his wonderful staff! It was 10 minutes to closing time, and I live 10 minutes away, said that they would take me as soon as I could get there. Needless to say my pup is doing great and thank you Dr. Hicks! more

I am so surprised by the previous review. Dr. Hicks and his staff are wonderful. It is like an old time vet's office. Nothing fancy, just caring for the animals. I have called him on weekends and holidays and he always calls me back. I would highly recommend him! more

I took my cats in to get declawed. The staff offered no information about recovery and after care for the animals. After asking what to do, they conradicted what I've heard from other vets, telling me to use regular litter and to keep their bandages on for 7 - 10 days. My cats were miserable.
