  • In Short
Rex Bell opened the doors to the original Old Quarter in 1967, but the cafe moved to the Strand District in 1996. Early highlights included Bert Wills and the late Townes Van Zandt. Though he's dabbled with a variety of musical styles since opening the place, Bell has swung back to his stable of local acoustic musicians with a few bigger names from Austin and Houston like Sisters Morales and Ray Wylie Hubbard.
