Old Mission School Thrift Shop (Mission Thrift)

I was really exited when Old Mission Thrift moved into this big building within walking distance of my house. It was great for a while, but all of the friendly people who used to work their have left. \r \r Some of the new employees look at me like I'm a criminal if I find anything half-way decent that isn't marked with a special tag (for more expensive items). I bought a used WalMart belt there, and the cashier gave me a dirty look and ran to the back room to make sure it wasn't "supposed to have a tag." Seriously? I'm not going to try and rip-off a charity for a few dollars, and the belt probably cost the same new! Also, the employees they used to have remembered me, asked how my kids were, etc. It's just not as friendly now.\r \r I should also mention they have much higher prices now. Sometimes I laugh when I donate a shirt, and they have priced it more than what I paid for it new! more

Ok, I finally found Mission Thrift after they relocated - they are now at 2640 Broad St . The items are upscale and excellent quality as always. The cool thing about this thrift store is quality of the merchandise - always upscale and top of the line. The main drawback is that the inventory fluctuates monthly. Sometimes, I find great bargains, other times the inventory is scarce...regardless, its one of the few thrift shops in SLO that has consistently excellent merchandise at bargain prices. Although they don't have a lot of merchandise, what they do have is usually ridiculously cheap for what you get. Pros: The merchandise is better than most thrift stores. Cons: they moved and they are hard to find. more

They moved to 2640 Broad St, (on the way to the airport, just past the fire station). Hard to find now, but worth the effort. Because of the move, the prices have been dropped. A gem once you find it! Great merchandise, upscale clothing at thrift store prices. more

Great little thrift store in downtown SLO that carries all sorts of stuff: Men's and women's clothing, shoes, kids clothing and shoes, kids toys and baby paraphenalia, furniture, kitchen gadgets and furnishings, videos and DVDs, etc. Their prices are very reasonable and the items are almost always in excellent condition. They take donations as well. \r \r Purchases benefit Old Mission School. more
