Greedy, unethical owner and server... 5/26/2012

Greedy, unethical owner and server... I went to Old Mill Brewery with a Groupon yesterday. The Groupon was for $40, for which I paid $20. I have used dozens and dozens of Groupons and have never had any other restaurant add charges because I was using a Groupon. The issues that I experienced were these: They upcharged FULL MENU PRICE on the food we had BECAUSE we used a Groupon. So, for an item that was $15.99 on the full price menu we were charged $21.39 with the Groupon upcharge, I was also charged a $1 upcharge on one other item. They also added a service charge of 18% to our ticket for a party of 2, which is usually added only for parties of 6 or more in the majority of restaurants. The point of buying a Groupon is to get a good deal, and they definitely left me feeling insulted and ripped off instead. The food and beer don't even matter, because of the greed of the owner and the server. If you are a Groupon user, beware of this restaurant. Where the Groupon said ""get $40 worth of american pub fare and drinks for $20"", I actually got $40 worth for $34.88. That is NOT how Groupons work. They were greedy and unethical, and I am disappointed and will not be returning. more

We've eaten at many, many places in the 4/19/2012

We've eaten at many, many places in the Denver metro area and this is probably our most favorite place to go for breakfast/brunch or dinner. We go at least once a week, with or without the Groupon. The place is always bustling. \r \r The $3.00 mimosa's served for brunch are to die for and served in very generous portions. One is usually all you need. The breakfast menu is very diverse and the things I've tried were very good. \r \r The dinner menu and specials have not failed to please us either. The Prime Rib served Friday and Saturday nights is tasty, the burgers are good and cooked to order (my favorite is the Chili Cheeseburger) Portions are more than generous. Happy hour specials and daily specials are also good.\r \r The beers, oh my goodness the beers. My SO never liked beer until trying the Passionfruit beer, he's now a believer. I would suggest trying a sample of each of the fruit flavored beers. They are all so good. \r \r The booth seats do need some attention but overall the atmosphere is very nice. Love to sit on the pation when weather permits. Service can be a little slow at times but they are attentive. more

3rd Time was NOT a Charm...Will NEVER return!!! 12/10/2011

Wheat Beer was not good...appetizers took too long & I was afraid to eat it for fear of getting sick! Staff was very unprofessional in the way they handled the situation with an appetizer, our large party was scared the cook staff would be in the back spitting on our food given the way the wait staff & so called manager behaved when a problem was brought to there attention, even while we have a child with us. So we all walked out (best choice so no regrets)! The little boy who calls himself the owner needs a lesson in Customer Service Skills though it would not hurt the whole place for that matter...yet I do not see any hope for this brewery in the future with leaders like they are running the place into the ground! So if you don't like rude wait staff who smoke outside while the smell fills the back room, nor care for the smell of sewage while you sip a cold one which if you closed your eyes would make you think you were sitting in the middle of the bathroom smelling urine...then just don't go there!!! Way better place to go in Littleton....Why does this site ask me to give a rating? I can't even give this place 1 star since I am so DISGUSTED! more

Great Beer, Food and Prices 12/1/2011

Excellent beer, brewed on site. $1 after 8pm and a dollar menu that's not too shabby. My wife and I moved from Chicago where we've spent too much money on dates in the past. Service has been excellent. Not sure how they stay in business with these deals but as long as they are in business, they'll get mine. more

Does not even deserve 1 star! 10/26/2011

I had not been to this restaurant in several years and I'll never go back! This place doesn't understand the idea of a Groupon is to get people in the door so they'll come back. My first clue should have been when they asked if I had a Groupon or coupon as soon as I was seated. From then the service went downhill, the $10 plate of calamari I ordered was not enough for 2, the Chop Chop Salad was not chopped and had only iceberg lettuce inner parts and beginning to go bad so it had orange parts to be picked out, and the tomatoes were not ripe. After we finished dinner & paid we told the waitress how bad it was. She offered to get the owner or manager, but then 10min later we were told they would not speak to us since we had a Groupon! more

Unpleasant experience 1/20/2010

Having recently moved back to Littleton, I went to the Old Mill with some friends last night. I knew it had changed ownership and names numerous times since I had last been there. I will not be returning. The beer is okay if not a little light on flavor... at least it would have been, if we weren't all put off on drinking it after tasting the German Alt that was on tap. Absolutely terrible and improperly brewed... it had tons of diacetyl in it and tasted like dirty buttered popcorn, which to me suggests lazy or unclean brewing. I can make better beer at home. After that, none of us wanted to drink the house beers and we were skeptical about how the food would be as well, so we all ordered burgers to be safe, so I can't really comment on the food. The menu reads like a tour of the world though, and there is no focus to the offerings. Having decided against the house beers, I ordered a Hazed and Infused. What I got was a Killian's, so I sent it back, watched the bartender pour from the Hazed tap, and got another Killian's. I told them the taps were switched and the waitress said she'd have the brewmaster look at it when he got was in because ""we don't know how to do any of that stuff."" We asked if he was available, hoping to the discuss the infected German Alt, but unfortunately he was not. At that point I resigned myself to a poor experience and bit my lip, but honestly what kind of people are they employing? Apparently the kind that need a lesson in how to unscrew a tap handle and move it to the right tap. 'm going to be telling everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague because the quality is terrible and the beer is unclean. After moving on to a different establish, we asked about the Old Mill and were told a rumor that the beer lines are 20+ years old because none of the owners have bothered to replace them. After my experience, I believe the rumor. Stay far away. Pros: Location Cons: Beer, service, menu more

Overall the food is good and served hot. Portion size is average to big so come hungry. Service has always been good, but I have not been here at what would be considered peak times. more
