Having recently moved back to Littleton, I went to the Old Mill with some friends last night. I knew it had changed ownership and names numerous times since I had last been there. I will not be returning.
The beer is okay if not a little light on flavor... at least it would have been, if we weren't all put off on drinking it after tasting the German Alt that was on tap. Absolutely terrible and improperly brewed... it had tons of diacetyl in it and tasted like dirty buttered popcorn, which to me suggests lazy or unclean brewing. I can make better beer at home.
After that, none of us wanted to drink the house beers and we were skeptical about how the food would be as well, so we all ordered burgers to be safe, so I can't really comment on the food. The menu reads like a tour of the world though, and there is no focus to the offerings.
Having decided against the house beers, I ordered a Hazed and Infused. What I got was a Killian's, so I sent it back, watched the bartender pour from the Hazed tap, and got another Killian's. I told them the taps were switched and the waitress said she'd have the brewmaster look at it when he got was in because ""we don't know how to do any of that stuff."" We asked if he was available, hoping to the discuss the infected German Alt, but unfortunately he was not. At that point I resigned myself to a poor experience and bit my lip, but honestly what kind of people are they employing? Apparently the kind that need a lesson in how to unscrew a tap handle and move it to the right tap.
'm going to be telling everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague because the quality is terrible and the beer is unclean. After moving on to a different establish, we asked about the Old Mill and were told a rumor that the beer lines are 20+ years old because none of the owners have bothered to replace them. After my experience, I believe the rumor.
Stay far away.
