We visited Old Juan's a little over a year ago and loved it. Even though it was December, the atmosphere was very warm and friendly and the food was good -- a great stop for us going from the Bay Area to LA. This year we got off a little later so couldn't make it for lunch. But we were still looking forward to sitting down for a beer and snacks as a break on the trip.
We went in to a nearly deserted restaurant. We told the person who greeted us that we just wanted beer and some snacks and he said that they were a restaurant first and a bar second -- so that we could only sit at the table until they needed it. THEY WERE EMPTY and it was not even 4 p.m. I asked where the bar was and said that we would go there. He motioned to the counter and stools and said, "You're looking at it." Then he said that the bartender would probably be able to help us and turned and left. We did the same thing. Needless to say, it wasn't the same experience we had the first time. Too bad. What ever happened to hospitality?
